My front hall incorporates the stairs that go to my upper floor (they are winding but still closed off) and then it pretty much opens to my living room. I do have a double door entry.

My question is; what colour do I paint this. I want something to mesh well with the rest of the colours. My stairs are carpetted, a ledium pale blue colour and the walls in my living room are BM Java brown. Should I do something like a light brown to compliment, or do I do something more daring? i am not afraid of colour but I want a calm and not too shocking entrance way into my home.

Also the hallway of the stairs leads into the upper hallway, to which I plan to do a lighter colour, ebcause there is not much natural light, so i don't want this too contrast too much.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
