This is very interesting as I was thinking of a single wall oven plus a convection microwave as a second oven. We have a regular microwave as well. I really want the second oven for pies, keeping things warm etc but don't need 2 full size ovens as in a double wall oven. Consumer reports didn't seem to think much of the convection microwaves so that put me off. The microwave ovens would be on opposite sides of the kitchen which has some advantage. Any comments?

Additional info from Icon Microwave installation guide: ÂCan only be installed over ranges or cooktops with 33" maximum width. It does not specify "professional" vs. "consumer" but the salesman said that because it is a professional range you cannot install the microwave over.

OK better late than never. I finally got the wolf hood fan and broan 335 They are working as designed. For reference, my Wolf range hood was the pro hood..PW482718 I believe. Inside the hood there was just one electrical wire. This wire connects to the house 120V supply. There are also two regular electrical plugs inside the hood. These electrical plugs are where you plug in the blower (remote or internal) You will need your electrician to run a 3 conductor wire from the blower down to the range hood. Here are the differences between the Broan and Wolf remote blowers: The wolf external blower comes with a power cord that plugs into the plugs in the hood. You then splice this cord together with the cord from the remote blower and hide it in the junction box inside the hood. The broan remote blower does not come with this cord. Fortunately it is just a standard 3 prong plug. Just picture a computer power supply plug, and cut the end that connects into the power supply off. Just make sure it is rated for the amperage of the remote blower. Plug one end of this cord into the outlet inside the range hood, and splice the other end to the wires coming down from the remote blower. On the other hand you can purchase the official wolf cord but it is like $65 That's it, everything works as planned, the blower fan speeds are infinite. Lights, heat lamps, etc all work if wired this way. There may be slight differences cosmetically on the exterior of the blower, but without having both I can't say. All I can say is the broan 335 works with 100% with the wolf pro hood, you just need to supply a power cord.

It is extremely helpful as I have to research and pick out a hood soon. Getting the right hood is very important to me. Thanks everyone for all the oven and microwave information too. It will help a lot. One of the reasons I am leaning towards the Platinum is the removable griddle... currently I have never used a griddle and while it sounds cool, I think there is a good chance I won't use it that often. Having a built in one is just too risky especially because I was only planning on a 36" range... I do see some recent threads about the Platinum, but not much from actual owners of the range. maire_cate, I am convinced that you are the only person on Houzz that actually owns a Bluestar Platinum :). Before I posted this, I had read your post where you had just got the range but hadn't tried the oven yet. Thanks very much for sharing your experience. I am glad to hear that it works well enough for you. It is very helpful to hear that it won't be totally just decorative if we choose it. Also your Thermadors look great! How is that that rotisserie? That is a cool feature I may want to look at... Hope your DH is still loving to cook. kaseki, this is a partial tear down that we have been planning for a very long time. We will be moved out for 10 months. We are choosing things based on the timeline set by our contractor and designer. You don't have to have things like the exact molding, cabinets, floors, or appliances in a plan before you start a project this big... it will take months just for the structural work.
