Might not have been the same glue, but we had a similar tile under square linoleum type tiles. I used a green scrubby, clorox clean-up and very hot water with occasional abbrsive cleanser. We were told there is an adhesive remover at home depot but this worked fine with lots of scrubbing. Also, let the hot water puddle and soak for 10-15 min on an area first to soften the glue. After trying to repair the original floor, we ended up removing it and replacing with a similar new tile because of a big spread crack and slope at the toilet end of the room. I'll do some more research to find out what E6000 is and where to get it. rmtonelzey and grandma_bonnie: I think that my glue gun might be low-temp. My sister bought it for me and I remember how she hated getting burned with her hot one. :) So it probably wouldn't hold as well as real hot glue anyway. If I were only gluing small metal pieces the glue gun would probably work fine, but some of this metal is quite heavy so I think I will need something stronger after hearing what you all have to say. I haven't ruled out using wire in conjunction with the glue gun either. lol! Thanks again, everyone!

Found this... 1 Place the stained article of clothing in the freezer. Keep the clothing in the freezer for several hours. Immediately after removing it, chip away at the hot glue with a dull butter knife, taking care not to scrape your fingers with it. Continue scraping until the glue is gone. 2 Place a cotton rag on top of the stained area. Heat up an iron with no steam, then press the iron over the stained area and the cotton fabric for 20 seconds. Gently peel up the rag as some of the glue comes with it. Using a clean area of the rag, repeat the process. Continue to iron and remove the fabric until all of the glue has transferred to the cotton rag. 3 Saturate a cotton ball with nail polish remover that contains acetone. Gently rub the cotton ball against the stained area, then blot the area with a clean cotton cloth. Continue until there is no more glue on the clothing, and it has transferred completely onto the cotton cloth. 4 Dab the area with a liquid adhesive remover. Liquid adhesive removers are available at your local drugstore or grocery store. Saturate a cotton ball with the adhesive remover, then gently dab the area until the glue has dissolved completely.

Hot glue will let loose because it stays stiff when dry and does not expand or retract with changing temps. For outdoor wreaths and other projects I use Aleene's Tacky or Aleene's Super Tacky glue. Both will expand and retract with the changing temps and will not 'let go'.
