That is close to what I have in my guest bath. I think you need to live with the color for a while. Do you have color on walls in other areas or is this the most intense in your house? If so, I think you need to get used to the color and go ahead with your accessories.

Thanks rnmomor2, that makes me feel better. I guess I do need to live with it and see if I can get used to it. I'm not really afraid of color, I have a burgundy dining room, but I was expecting a little more "candlelight" in the gold and it is looks so bright in my room! It is a lot of change in that room from cream tile and brown and cream faux painting to black and gold! I appreciate your take on it!

Small space, some dark elements -- wonder what you have going on in the way of light bulbs.

The word "bright" is jumping out from what you're saying. Changing, rearranging the choice of light bulbs could help.

I'd wait a few days tho. Maybe until next weekend. If you "just" painted it, it is entirely possible the color hasn't cured all the way. It might be too soon to really comprehend how much brightness you're dealing with. Plus the shock that comes with dramatic change.

Give yourself and the paint a minute to settle in, don't panic just yet...

Thank you for your advice funcolors. I didn't think about it needing to cure. My neighbor just came over to look and she loved it, so maybe I am just over reacting to the change. My dh doesn't care for it much either though. We are hoping once the black frame goes around the mirror that will change our feelings about it too. I'll look into the lightbulbs, maybe they are too bright. I really appreciate the advice. I know a lot of people really like blonde and I have seen pics of it in rooms and really liked it, but it wasn't with uba tuba granite!

My uba tuba has some red/burgandy in it. However, every piece of granite is different. Burgandy would be an option if your uba tuba has any. My downstairs bath is painted SW Blonde and the accent is burgandy.

I don't know that my uba tuba has any burgandy in it but I think I would like that color with it rather than green. I'll give it a try. My uba tuba comes across with a lot of gold flecks. Love that uba tuba even if I'm not sure about the Blonde with it!

I love Blonde, but have you considered Ivorie, which is the next one up on the strip? It's a really creamy gold and may be just the right complement to uba tuba. It's less intense. In order to sample it properly, buy the sample pot and paint 3 or 4 large posterboards and hang them so that they reflect off each other. This method of sampling has worked for me in the past. Let us know whatever it is you decide on :)

I was going to say the same thing as Funcolors regarding the curing time. Maybe it needs a few days to 'mellow' a bit.

Blonde tended towards green undertones in my house so I would def. recommend trying green towels and see what you think.

Thanks again for all the advice. I always know I can count on gardenweb friends to help me out. I've gotten lots of good advice here. I would love to see pictures if anyone has some they can post. It still looks pretty bold today but I am going to get some sample towels in a couple of colors and see what they look like. I don't have my towel bars up yet so that might help by breaking up some of the blonde color. And pictures etc would help if I just knew what I wanted! I am decorating challenged. I've gone with Blonde in the foyer / stairs / great room / kitchen of our new house because I fell in love with it in a fancy model home I'd seen. I was NOT liking the tinted primer version of it on the walls, but now that the first coat of actual paint has gone up, I am liking it. The 2 rooms off of the foyer are eggplant (DR) and moss green (study)--those colors look great with Blonde (and would make good towel colors in the bath).

I do have Blonde in the buddy bath upstairs, but can't take a good picture yet (electricity not connected yet so no light).

I just got 2 more opinions and they liked it too! It just must be me. I am going to get several towel colors today and see if that helps. Thanks for the Eggplant idea, I hadn't thought of that one. I do hope someone will have a picture to post too!

I got 3 different towel colors and still can't decide! What am I going to do with myself! I got a darker moss green, a lighter green and one that is cranberry( ralph lauren if you are familiar with that towel brand, that is for the cranberry)and they all look nice. I think the lighter green makes the Blonde a little more toned down. Anyone have any other suggestions of what I should try? I couldn't find any towels in eggplant at Kohls. I still feel like the color is intense but am living with it for a while at least. I am now thinking about painting the adjacent MBedroom Ivoire and getting some burgundy/red and green bedding, right now it is Alligator tears with teal and taupe, not a real good transition. Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you!

I have Blonde in my 3rd (spare) bedroom and Ivore in my 2 story front hallway. I have had both paints for about 3 years and both have faded/lighted slightly since we painted, so I would give it time. At first I didn't like the Blonde either, but now I totally love it. It also didn't take that long for it to lighten a bit. Once you get towels and accessories in there it will make a world of difference.

IMO, going with darker towels like the eggplant and cranberry will make the Blonde brighter. In my spare bedroom (the one with the Blonde color) I had a sage comforter and ivory silk flowers and it was a very mellow room. I recently changed it to a very bright comforter (Pottery Barn Nora, which has a white background with bright red and orange flowers) and red silk flowers and I couldn't believe the difference - it looked like we had repainted again! So if you're looking to tone it down, go with the sage towels.

I also love the Ivore in our front hall. Not a HUGE difference from the Blonde, but just enough. We get a ton of compliments on our color choices. The Ivore is a much creamier color than the Blonde.

If after a while you still don't like the brightness of the Blonde, but still like the general color, you can repaint but have a new gallon of Blonde tinted 25% or 50% lighter. I did that with another color in my house and it turned out perfect.

If you want to have Ivore in your bedroom and Blonde (or a shade of it) in the bathroom, the transition will be great. I personally wouldn't get red and green bedding for the bedroom if you are going with a lighter color (ie. light green towels) for the bath. I like it when the master bedroom/bath have similar color schemes. I am sorry I don't have a pictures to post as we are leaving for vacation later today. If you are still undecided I can take some next week when we get back. :)
