SW San Antonio Sage? Colors to coordinate w/Blonde?

My kitchen is painted Laura Ashley Gold #3 which I just realized is very close to SW Blonde. We have been meaning to paint the great room which opens up to the kitchen. The painter just called and offered me a great price because they are slow now. Yikes!! I need to pick a color!

My couch, club chair and ottoman are olivey-brown microfiber. They look more brown during the day and more olive at night. I have a burgundy leather recliner in the room also. We have dark oak Arts and Crafts style ent. armiore and tables with off white berber carpet that will also be replaced with something in a similiar color. The fireplace brick is red with a hint of brown and goes all the way to the ceiling. The room is approx. 20 by 25 with cathedral ceilings and plenty of windows and daylight.

I have painted a sample board with Olive Branch. It is okay but not screaming "i"m the one!". San Antonio Sage is more of a green-tan but I'm not sure what I think of it joining up at a corner with the "Blonde". I guess I'm not sure if I think the Olive Branch is too green for me or not. I do have olivey Formica SS in the kitchen which we really like. It's not that I'm afraid of the green(okay maybe I am) I just wonder if it needs to be more brown.

Help! What about Baby Turtle, Providence Olive? Any great suggestions? I have pored over the "Greens" tread also. THanks

I'm not sure whether you really have your heart set on a sage for your great room, or if this idea is just too boring, but what about simply continuing the LA Gold #3 in the great room? Based on your description of your furniture and fireplace, I actually think a gold might be just the ticket for the room (I have a room painted SW Blonde, so I know what it looks like). It might also create a really nice flow with your kitchen, making it feel like a more unified space (unless you're going for a more separate feeling). Just a thought.

I wasn't really sure I wanted to continue the gold on into the next room. This room can be pretty bright and I was afraid it might be too much. Does Restrained or Mannered Gold read bright or intense?

As it appears on the screen, I like its muted gray tone because it picks up on your gray counter. It looks like a blue gray here and the blue is very pretty with your cabinet color. Blue is complementary to orange. The cool blue of it works well with the gray too. I don't think you need to bring green in which won't relate as well to your counter color.

I love your room, usually that would be too much wood for my taste but your room has a very warm and inviting feel to it. We too have honey oak cabinets and I've found that the citrus greens seem to work really well with them, much better in my opinion than the sages which tend to look a bit too gray or drab (sorry I know it's a popular color) and the olives which depending on the space can look too heavy. If you're looking for a warm and cheerful green, you may want to consider something with a tad more yellow in it so it will compliment the woodwork more. Some examples would be colors like: Behr Asparagus , Behr Grass Cloth: It's much prettier in person and I've used quite a bit in our own home (pictured below). or BM Perinnial- Another nice green is the color Aunt Jen just used in her living space, Agave, I believe it's Benjamen Moore. I've posted this pic a lot so sorry if you've seen it already, hope it helps. I wish I had a sample of the Grass cloth next to the oak, but we're in the middle of getting a back splash put in and the kitchen isn't painted...yet. Also, since your room is larger, you may want to consider a green that's a shade lighter like SW Rice Paddy also a great color.

Thanks, everyone! Like I said, I get paralyzed when it comes to color so I picked a paint strip and fear to venture off of it! Ha : ) Restrained Gold in the whole house would definitely be too much, although I'm intrigued that you all think that the family room should be something other than Ivoire. Blonde is one shade darker than Ivoire (and one lighter than Restrained Gold) but seems awfully yellowy to me. Does anyone have other ideas (San Antonio Sage looks nice) for a family room color and would I have too many colors on the first floor of the house (Restrained Gold in two rooms, Posh Red and something for the family room and Ivoire or something else for the kitchen)? What does that mean for the kitchen and hallway color? Should I go with Ivoire (darkened by 50%) or Blonde or Restrained Gold? Thanks again for your advice!

The whole fan of the colors posted above by Mtn looks like the colorways for those ubiquitous ‘French Country” fabrics from early 2000’s. I’m never a fan of yellow, in any variation, for either my interiors or my fashion choices, so I am probably not a candidate for Tarnished Trumpet. 😊
