Here are a couple pictures of our open kitchen/eating area/family room. Ignore the curtains - they are getting changed and ignore the sample greens we were trying. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I too have honey oak cabinets and a dark green counter top.

We just painted our kitchen Behr Olivine (420F-5) and our Family room Behr Red Brick ( (S-H-170)

Both of these colors made the rooms so much larger looking.

Our cabs are honey oak,counters dark green granite, with a rust sofa in the LR, all open to each other. We also have lots of windows facing southwest. Our LR is SW Sagey and the kitchen is SW Travertine, 7722. It's a very soft gold on our wall, actually fairly similar to Ivoire, and we like it next to the Sagey. I took a pic of the kitchen but can't get it into the computer, but here's a photo of the SW Sagey in our living room; the kitchen is just around the corner.

Would you consider painting the wainscoat in this room the ivory you painted your entry/living room? Then I would paint upper walls a light sage green. Leave your woodwork/cabintry the way it is now.

I havent completely decided, but most likely I'm doing ivorie in my kitchen which joins w/ my fam Rm which I'm doing SW blonde and my morning Rm which will be SW humble gold. I think the colors play well off one another w/o looking too intense. I figure this way too, I can play around w/ accessories.

I like the green shades. I wonder if the restrained gold will clash with the woodwork color. Pretty room. I like the fireplace and the woodwork.

I think any color green would just wash out the wood. I hope you get a lot of pictures by other posters here since your wood is so pretty in color you want just the right one to put on the walls.

How about pulling out one of the tones in the brick for above the wainscot?

Is it my pc or do you have a bit a sage in your bricks? I really like the idea of a light sage like Susanka's room. I think it works well with your other elements. Nice room!

I would say the sage color in the picture of the bricks is off. Those bricks are more of a light grey and the other are more of a tan and cream color. I tried BM Philadelphia Cream on the wall but with the Ivoire foyer it looks very similar

I also tried SW blonde by the woodwork and I think that color and probably restrained gold too would be too much with the woodwork.

Back to looking at a green/light sage I think.

I love your room, usually that would be too much wood for my taste but your room has a very warm and inviting feel to it. We too have honey oak cabinets and I've found that the citrus greens seem to work really well with them, much better in my opinion than the sages which tend to look a bit too gray or drab (sorry I know it's a popular color) and the olives which depending on the space can look too heavy.

If you're looking for a warm and cheerful green, you may want to consider something with a tad more yellow in it so it will compliment the woodwork more. Some examples would be colors like:
Behr Asparagus

Behr Grass Cloth: It's much prettier in person and I've used quite a bit in our own home (pictured below).

BM Perinnial-

Another nice green is the color Aunt Jen just used in her living space, Agave, I believe it's Benjamen Moore.

I've posted this pic a lot so sorry if you've seen it already, hope it helps. I wish I had a sample of the Grass cloth next to the oak, but we're in the middle of getting a back splash put in and the kitchen isn't painted...yet. Also, since your room is larger, you may want to consider a green that's a shade lighter like SW Rice Paddy also a great color.
