What floor colour is considered neutral?
Comments (1)What about a vinyl "wood" floor. I'm going with Allure vinyl planks from HD and you can put practically any color with any wood (usually). I'm getting the hickory and that would look nice with a beachy theme. They also have a very light oak. Cherry looks nice with green. I think as long as your floor doesn't have a specific color on it (like blue marble) then it's a neutral....See MoreXRef--What are your favorite neutral colors

Comments (27)Thanks Lynn, but this pic was of the home I just left because the landlord was moving his mother in there so I had to go. The landlords own a tile company so they did a wonderful job with the floors, granite tile contertop, and tiling the bathrooms. They got cheap with bathroom cabinmets and lighting and bedroom carpets. I am now renting a different home about 3 miles south of the 1st one I rented in Phoenix. This neighborhood is nicer. But if I do not find a job or some other source of income I will have to go into subsidized housing next month since I am out of money. My part time job cut hours drastically so I am only working like 4-6 hours a week at $10.95 an hour. That ain't enough for even groceries. I am going to go to St. Vincent de Paul tomorrow to pick up food. I applied for like 6 jobs today. I apply online almost everyday but no calls or emails are coming in to me. It is frustrating. I am praying non-stop now for God to make another miracle in my life. I should be done with chemo by the end of March and have my reversal ileostomy surgery (called a take down) in early May. Then recovery from that and re-adjustment to using my colon again. So I am getting closer to the end of this year long struggle. Thanks be to God! Thanks for the compliment!...See MoreNon-neutral kitchen colours
Comments (8)Any color at all can be used in a kitchen or in kitchen-living combo. So the trick is to use some kind of approach to help you hone in on what rings your bell (or DH's). You can use "kitchen" photos--the advantage is that they will show "color" combined with the appliances and surfaces found in a kitchen, and this gives a different "look" than what can be done in a living room. But, if you're totally adrift, you might want to start more generically and look at books and photos just about "Color in the Home" or whatever. When you say "warm earthy," then I think 2, 3 or 4 major color groups--yellows/golds/ochre/browns vs. peach/terra cotta/cinnamon/browns , which overlap with warm pinks/roses/red, vs. some greens/green-golds which may not always be thought of as "warm" but, in the correct shades, combine well with the warm earth tones/naturals. So maybe anything but the blues, grays, lavenders. You may also be thinking taupes/tans if you view those as being bolder and more striking than white or cream walls, so that you may be considering many quite neutral "colors" which still assert a stronger role in the color scheme. The reason to think more generically about what colors keep appealing to you is that if you are in fact doing this "long wall" that traverses multiple living spaces, then it will influence all your furnishing choices, so you would be planning for that. In the planning stage, though, you can look at all these color-happy photos of any kinds of rooms and go back and forth--hmmm, if I paint it green, then my upholstery/accent/accessory colors may need to be (red, yellow, white, etc). If I paint it yellow or gold, then .....). And so on. So if you have some inspiration favorite fabric upholstery or draperies or sofa in mind that is part of your goal, the paint is the easiest thing to fine-tune to go with that. I have found when I rip from mag's or otherwise try to identify favorite "rooms" there are a lot of common themes in the color schemes I like as well as ones to which I say, nope. Common mostly, but with a few surprises where I say, if I were really trying something different, then I think I would try xxx. In theory the paint is what you might choose last, but that means the exact paint; the general color scheme would otherwise come first, or at least warm/cool. So if you first fell in love with a particular granite or quartz, then you might work backwards and build your entire color scheme around that, but if you think you want warm gold or terra cotta walls, you'd see if you could find a quartz that would go with that, then if you found something suitable you'd line up a dozen (or more!) specific paint chips to see which one, and if that didn't work as you expected you might find that a completely different countertop color or material is called for, and so on back and forth....See MoreUser
