I searched for one like you describe but, between BM and SW, I couldn't find one. I have a dozen jars of samples. While in Walmart one day I checked out the paint colors and found one called Wistful Beige and it's PERFECT. No pink, green, blue, yellow, undertones. It's just a perfect beige. I was nervous about the quality of the paint and I have to say, it was every bit as good as Benjamin Moore. Good luck.

yayagirl..thanks for that info as I too have been on the hunt for a tan/beige and even have 3 sections painted now in my office with some SW colors..don't like any of them. so am going to go look at the wistful beige from walmart. someone told me once that walmart paint is made by a big paint co. like SW's or glidden or something...they use it all the time and are very pleased with it.

Wish I could add to the list for you sallen...but the only colors that come to mind are an old BenMoore paint: oriental silk. (pale pale creamy yellow) and for a more golden tone: SW Blonde. love them both..but definitely not the beige family you're asking for.

I can't help you with the colors but wanted to add that I use walmart paint all the time. Kilz brand is actually pretty highly rated by consumers reports according to my brother.

BM Baby Turtle is my favorite green. So neutral it almost comes across as brown until you start loading the furniture and textiles back in the rm.

I like BM Everlasting for a pale neutral. Also BM Natural Wicker, which is a bit lighter, I think (I don't have the fandeck here to compare). There are so many nice greens. I like BM Cheyenne Green or the next-lighter color on the same strip (Paris Rain? can't recall). Having said that, I don't really know what "golf and fishing colors" are!

This may be darker than what you're looking for, but I love BM Wilmington Tan. Favorite greens are BM Baby Turtle and BM Northampton Putty.

I don't post often at all, but seem to live here everyday! However, I found a lovely paint color, and I will certainly give credit to House Beautiful's paint swatch section for this one...it's Valspar's Toadstone. It's a light, greeny-beige, and I've not heard it ever mentioned except in the magazine. I've used it in two rooms (entryway and part of the living area) and on the ceiling of the entry and my dining room. I don't get a lot of natural lignt, and it's wonderful. As I remember, they don't have a swatch of it in-store. Don't have a pic as of yet, but will try to get one later.

Almost my entire house is painted in Barnwood by Waverly from Lowe's.. great neutral khaki/tan/green color.

Pittsfield Buff, it's a neutral that has life! For photos, do a search of susans02 house, it's gorgeous.

That is really interesting about the Wal-Mart Paint - I have never even considered using it assuming it was pretty poor quality.

Do you know which company the paint is from?

OMG I just counted and in the next couple of months I have 9 rooms to paint so if I can find a good quality paint at a descent price that would be amazing!

I like SW Believable Buff and Whole Wheat. For a more greenish beige color, I like the sample board that I have of SW Netsuke, although I've never used it in my house. SW Creamy is a very pretty off-white.

Just want you to know I LOVE the "Barnwood"-- got a sample of it because of your fond opinion of it... been eyeing the swatch all day every day for weeks. Do you think it would look good with my cream-colored cabinets, as well as honey-colored maple cabinets in other parts of the house? Would you say it's mostly brown, green, or gray? Is it dark? Or medium?

When we built our present home, I used a lot of satin ColorPlace (Walmart paint)....and it was as good as any other that I used. SW makes Walmart's paint....or so several have told me. Give it a try at less than half the price~~~~

I like Farrow & Ball's London Stone, and I've had it matched in just about every brand of paint possible. I've also had it mixed at 50%, which makes it a very soft paper bag brown.

Thanks Lynn, but this pic was of the home I just left because the landlord was moving his mother in there so I had to go. The landlords own a tile company so they did a wonderful job with the floors, granite tile contertop, and tiling the bathrooms. They got cheap with bathroom cabinmets and lighting and bedroom carpets. I am now renting a different home about 3 miles south of the 1st one I rented in Phoenix. This neighborhood is nicer. But if I do not find a job or some other source of income I will have to go into subsidized housing next month since I am out of money. My part time job cut hours drastically so I am only working like 4-6 hours a week at $10.95 an hour. That ain't enough for even groceries. I am going to go to St. Vincent de Paul tomorrow to pick up food. I applied for like 6 jobs today. I apply online almost everyday but no calls or emails are coming in to me. It is frustrating. I am praying non-stop now for God to make another miracle in my life. I should be done with chemo by the end of March and have my reversal ileostomy surgery (called a take down) in early May. Then recovery from that and re-adjustment to using my colon again. So I am getting closer to the end of this year long struggle. Thanks be to God!

I like BM Pittsfield Buff and BM Bennington Gray. Here's the Bennington Gray on a sun-filled morning. Looks taupe in the morning and richer with a green undertone at night.

I just used SW Netsuke as the primary base for my whole house. Although it is on a green card, it has a real tan gold "honey" appearance in my home. We like it because it is really a beautiful compliment to the wood.

i use grey outside and browns of all kinds inside for neutrals..then bounce other colors off of them..also have grey in the family room as a neutral

Here is our absolute favorite neutral, SW Relaxed Khaki with SW Antique White as our trim color. I also like SW Universal Khaki, which is one shade down on the strip - just a tad darker.
