it was quite a while ago that I asked for help with my new dining room, help is what you all gave and I thank you guys so much. fast forward to now, I took alot of your suggestions and here is what I came up with. I'm always tweaking it here and there and eventually I will get a rug for under the table and a new table and chairs. Its hard to tell from the pics but I brushed on and wiped off stain on the chairs so they weren't so stark white. Here are before and after pics, Im happy with the results, please be honest (I can take it) and if you have any ideas throw them at me! thanks again.

color is off in these, had camera on 'scene' and Im a horrible pic taker! really, i am. paint is BM camouflage, country curtains-gold/beige with cranberry, sage and army greenish stripes.

whew..that was alot of pics. Its a big improvement but as always it could be better..What's missing? Maybe another palm on the other side of cabinet? the Only thing I wont do is repaint.

Very nice improvements!! I might add a table runner so the three items are connected more. Maybe tiny LED lights on palm leaves or an up light behind the palm would add to the space. Not fond of the drapes. Could you find a black and white toile or small print that would work with the chair seat covers?

it's looking good! I'd put a larger picture/photograph to the right of the hutch. and i'd change out the light for one in ORB to pick up on the curtain rod and pulls on the low chest. it'd also balance out some of the white. you could probably spray paint it and maybe look for beige/tan shades.

Jasmine - What a great deal you got on those pots! WooHoo! Also, thanks for the compliment on the seed packets. You have no idea the countless hours that went in to me folding paper until I found the perfect design! LOL! Here's how you do it: 1. Cut a piece of notebook paper in fourths. Each piece of ruled paper will become the seed packets. I normally just crease it it half both directions and tear along the creased line. 2. Use the short side of the paper as the top. (There are two short sides and two long sides, like any rectangle would have.) I also like to use the red line that goes down the page to the inside of the packet, so that would be facing you right now. Bring the top left corner and top right corner down and in to the top middle part of the paper where both points meet. Where they meet, is where you'll crease the top left and top right side of the paper. It should look like a point at the top that forms a triangular shape at the top of the paper, like the point on an arrow. 3. Bring the bottom of the paper up until it meets the bottom of the triangular shape and crease it there. 4. Bring the left side in to the center of the paper and crease it there. (The center is easily visible by the line that was made in the middle of the top triangle shape you already made. 5. Do the same thing to the right side bringing it also into the center and creasing it. 6. Bring the bottom up to where the the left side and right side straight lines end. 7. Fold the top flap down inside the bottom flap you just brought up to "seal" the envelope. It really is an amazingly simple mini seed packet that used lightweight, ordinary notebook paper. All I do is open up the right side (because I'm right-handed), pour the seeds in and fold it right back up. One thing I would highly recommend is writing on the ruled lines on the front of the packet BEFORE filling with seeds. It's that simple. I've seen a lot of origami packets that had to use the heavier, bulkier paper to stay firm and like a good packet, but this isn't one of them. I've also seen that if even one little line is not perfectly creased, the packets looks "off", but this isn't one of them, either. It's a very forgiving design that hardly shows a flaw even when my kids make them! I hope others will try to make them. If I can scan each image along the way, then I'll try to make another post with pictures. I blow these out while I'm watching TV without ever cutting or gluing paper. I can make over a hundred in no time at all. Just the first ones you make take a little longer as you get used to it, then you fly right through them! Blessings, Angela

Follow Ups to Questions 2: The entire construction process was probably 8 weeks elapsed. There were holidays, weather problems, you name it. The actual schedule was bizarre. A week or so of demo in March, an unexpected 6 month hiatus, then back again for November & December and final details in January. The time after demo turned out to be a good thing as we changed many items and even the actual design - all for the better. The room dimensions are a bit irregular. The area of marble floor is 7ft x 7ft. The tub is 3 ft wide, so the room more or less is 7x10 (not including the little alcoves at the head of the tub and shower areas). The ceiling height is a little over 9 ft. The JVI light is "large" and the bottom is probably at 6'9" or so (we made sure all contractors' heads cleared). We removed several links of chain to get the right height. Not sure the large light would work with an eight foot ceiling looking at it now. One of the other similar styles would do the trick though. As for the Amma, I didn't notice the slope to be all that different - but I might not have been paying attention. This only a 66" tub - not a lot of room. What I did notice is the curved back. For me, the flat back was not as comfortable as the curve. The other things that I looked for in my search were arm rests and grab bars. These two items I use every time I get in or out. I would advise you to run an additional scan below: if you have time.. as a double check.. Use the Kaspersky Lab Online Scanner download from here click Here In Microsoft Windows Vista, you must open the Web browser using the Run as Administrator command. From the Desktop right click the icon to open the browser and choose Run as Administrator. Â Click on SCAN NOW] Â Click Accept. Â The program will then begin downloading the latest definition files. Â Once the files have been downloaded locate the Scan Settings and have it scan My Computer. Â The scan will take a while, so be patient and let it finish. When the scan is done, in the Scan is complete window, any infection is displayed. There is no option to clean/disinfect. It's just a check to see if any infection is there if there is we can send you to another forum. I just want to comment that your dining room looks so much warmer and more comfortable with the changes you've made. I think it looks great! The only thing I can see is the small picture to the right of the china cabinet looks like it is floating away. I think because it is maybe too small or maybe too high up.

You've done a wonderful job on that room.

I think it is looking great too. I like the newest drapes and also the toile romans you had in the beginning. A table runner would be good too. And I agree about the picture to the right of the china cabinet.

You've done so much work. Huge improvement. Makes me want to come in and sit down! I agree with picture on right. Need to have something larger. I like the drapes but agree they don't flow with toile chair .. no harmony there. Would be very easy to swap out fabric on chair ... something to link from across the room. One other thought .. what about replacing white lampshades for something that ties in with your colors as well. A few more tweaks and you'll be there!!

I think you've really improved the space. I love the new
curtains also since I have the exact ones from CC here in
my family room...much nicer looking IRL. While I love the
toile fabric in itself, I don't think it "plays nice" with
those curtains at all...just my opinion.

Wow, that is a lot of work, but well worth it. It looks so much warmer and welcoming now. I do agree w/ the other comments about the toile fabric not complementing the curtains (which I think really are in keeping w/ your table style, etc). And the lampshade idea from tnorman sounds promising, also.

Again, great job--you should feel proud of your updates--they look wonderful!

I think the room looks lovely and the drapes warm it up. I also have BM camouflage in my home and I put a lot of reds/beige and green in the rooms. I think if you have a picture that compliments all the colors in the room with a black frame it would pull the room together and the picture should be large enough to make a statement.

thanks again everyone. I do love the new drapes, they are from country curtains and look much better than a picture can capture. For those of you who commented about changing the chair covers, your right..I will do that to tie in to the curtains more. Now that i look at the picture hanging it is too small. Its always good to look at these things through other peoples eyes..I have been looking for table runners and I cant find any nice ones. I could make one I guess using my good old hemming tape since I dont sew!

Is there a reason the hutch isn't centered on the wall?
I guess the palm is 'live' and needs to be by the window, but it'd look nice in the larger space to the right of the hutch.

Like others, I think you need two large prints on each side of the hutch......(yes, put one behind the palm). : )

Only other thing I'd change is to add some large decor on the table. Some ideas are a decorative basket, a wire basket holding lots of fruit (real or faux), a large ceramic bowl that picks up the colors of your drapes, or maybe some type of statue.
