Two Baby Quilts to share-(PIC)

I have a new great nephew and will soon have a new great-niece. I used six of my birthday blocks for hers, and did a fish quilt for him.

Anita, thread sort of depends on the machine and what it runs best with. My FMQ machine is really fussy and I still struggle to find what to use. I use all cotton as a rule. But, on this one I used Bottomline by Superior in the bobbin. It is finer than most and you get more on the bobbin. I think it's polyester. On top I used plain cotton, cone says Signature 40wt on it but often I use King Tut because my machine likes it best. I probably was out of the off white color that day. I really want my machine to use heavier cotton threads like 12 or 20 weight but still can't seem to get the settings right to keep it from breaking. I'll figure it out one day.

Jayne, Here are the directions: Sew one 2.5" x 4" rectangle (outside print) to a contrasting 2.5" x 4" rectangle (lining print) along a long edge, using a 1/4" seam, of course. Fold wrong sides together and press, leaving 1/8" of the lining showing on the fold. Fold each side of the outside towards the middle of the rectangle, forming a triangle and press. Sew a long basting stitch along the bottom of the prairie point to hold it in place. Measure 2" from the tip of the point and trim along the bottom. Points should measure 2" x 3 3/4" when complete. Susan, Your quilt is precious! I, too, like the animal print and think it adds just the right interest. Sorry for your loss. I remember that feeling of wanting to share things with my mom, too. It was a very long time before it wasn't my first thought when I had good news about children or grands. Now I just generally think how she would be pleased. Glad you are quilting again. Baby is precious and quilts are lovely. I see my block in the blue and yellow too. The bright colors are perfect for a boy and blue and yellow is a perfect combination for a girls room.
