Finished baby quilt--pic

My mother and I always had so much fun quilting together, but she died 5 years ago, and I totally lost interest in quilting. Then my dear DIL asked if I would make a quilt for baby, and I couldn't say no, so here's what I did. She probably wanted bigger, but this is what I could manage.

I had the hardest time getting a good picture; photographing quilts is not easy! I see now that I should not have used the larger print in the cental motif, but oh well. I'm sure baby will be polite enough not to comment on that. Susan

It is hard to do things that you always enjoyed doing with Mom after she is gone. But with a new Grandchild maybe you will be able to enjoy quilting again.

I am glad you decided to start quiiting again. I love card tricks pattern and it turned out very nice. I love the bumble bees and think the larger print adds interest. Baby will enjoy all the animals. I bet your DIL will love it. TFS Jayne

Yes on the label. I use my sewing maching to create a label with my name and the month and year completed. I believe the quilt measured approx 40" by 40". When I got this all put together, I noticed a small tear in the red fabric. I think one of my cats accidently tore it so I made an applique of the puppy and appliqued over it. Nancy

I reallly like it! I also think the large print is a winner. I see teaching a baby words and pointing to 'whale', 'turtle', and so on.

It's adorable! And I'm sure your Mom would have loved it too.
I stopped quilting after I lost my mother 3 years ago and just started again this spring. Now I seem to be making up for lost time and want to sew everyday! I don't think I realized how much I missed it. It's so hard though not to be able to show her every block and discuss every idea with her.

not to be able to show her every block and discuss every idea with her. Since my mother went to a nursing home I miss her being with me. She never sewed or quilted but I always shared my quilting with her.......Your quilt is wonderful!I am sorry for your loss!

Your quilt is precious! I, too, like the animal print and think it adds just the right interest.

Sorry for your loss. I remember that feeling of wanting to share things with my mom, too. It was a very long time before it wasn't my first thought when I had good news about children or grands. Now I just generally think how she would be pleased.

Glad you are quilting again. It is such a pleasure. Keep sharing what you do with us.

You did a wonderful thing....now the new baby will benefit from the knowledge great grannie shared. How special a thing is that, keeping the lines of the family open. You did a terrific job and I know your mom is smiling down. When baby asks his mom or dad about this special quilt the story will be shared. It is special and so are you!

Socks, What a most precious quilt and the story that goes with it makes it all the more special. I'm glad you decided to make it. You probably had more than a couple conversations with your mom during the time you were sewing, eh? We don't forget our loved ones.....
