New baby quilt - pics!

All this needs is a label and I can deliver it to the new parents and baby boy. I'm very pleased with the way it turned out and how quickly I was able to make it.

This pattern is on Purlbee.com and is called the Zig Zag Quilt. I added a colorful polka dot background, two-inch borders, some HSTs in the borders and some of those cute prairie points. I only started this about 2 weeks ago and worked mostly on the weekends.

This is for Cory who grew up with my boys and his new baby boy, Daxton. (Sorry the shadows are so bad.)

Delightful! I'm very glad you posted, as I've been struggling with a border of my own. I love the triangles in your border and plan to steal the idea immediately. :)

Really like you baby quilt it will brighten up as much as the new arrive will nice work - our oldest grandson is a Cory - we just sent off a baby quilt to our newest granddaughter

Anita, thread sort of depends on the machine and what it runs best with. My FMQ machine is really fussy and I still struggle to find what to use. I use all cotton as a rule. But, on this one I used Bottomline by Superior in the bobbin. It is finer than most and you get more on the bobbin. I think it's polyester. On top I used plain cotton, cone says Signature 40wt on it but often I use King Tut because my machine likes it best. I probably was out of the off white color that day. I really want my machine to use heavier cotton threads like 12 or 20 weight but still can't seem to get the settings right to keep it from breaking. I'll figure it out one day.

Thanks for all the kind words! The Pyramids weren't too hard, but now I don't have to do that pattern again. It gets a bit dicey where all those points meet. I intended to make the babies different quilts, but used the same color palette since they will both be in the same nursery. I've decided I like using bright fabrics for little folks. Teresa

Beautiful quilting ~ I appreciate your pictures ~ you have no idea how much inspiration & education they provide to me. I need to look at panels differently - Yours is wonderful. My first project after I got my new machine was a panel. I experimented with the different decorative stitches, which I decided wasn't really the look I want to achieve in quilting - that's what I learned on that panel, even thou it turned out fine. I haven't considered a panel since. A panel would fit the bill for a gift for the person who doesn't recognize (appreciate)the skill or time involved in piecing. Yours looks like you spent alot of time. Thanks!

Another great effort. I like that pattern and can see lots of possibilites. Those prairie points are the gratest. I am going to have to try them one of these days in the boarder. Love the concept. Thanks for sharing. Jayne
