What a pretty quilt for a little girl! I love the way you did the border and the prairie points, not to mention the luscious colors!

OK, this is one of the neatest baby quilts I've ever seen! I appreciate the fact that it is not typical of a baby quilt and is something she can still hang in her room as a teenager and not feel like it's out of place. It is very girlish, but not prissy. Wonderful job, and who wouldn't love getting it?

That is gorgeous, pretty design and lovely colors. I agree that it's nice that it's not really babyish and can grow with its owner over the years.

The prairie points were made with two fabrics, the main fabric and a lining fabric. That is why the folded edges in the middle are a different fabric. This is the first time I have ever made PPs, and these were easy to do. This is one of those quilts that looks more complicated and time consuming than it really is. My favorite kind of quilt!

Love the PPs, and the applique in the border--they give the quilt that extra something. The colors definitely give it room to grow. It won't be stuck in the baby mode, not that mothers and grandmothers mind that.

Beautiful! I love the rick rack vine and the prairie points. Definitely something a little girl can grow up with!

Thanks everyone, but I just followed the directions in the magazine. I thought this was a pretty easy and somewhat "quick" quilt that gives the appearance of being more complex and time consuming. I stopped buying magazines years ago because I knew I would never get all those neat quilts made. A friend at work that I mentor showed me the quilt in the magazine and let me photocopy the pages. So I credit her for the inspiration.

I have been playing around with the PP and the one that looked most like yours was a sq. made of 1/2 sq.triangles (two colors) which I folded off center and made the PP.
I was just wondering if that was how yours were made. Love the pattern. Jayne

Here are the directions:

Sew one 2.5" x 4" rectangle (outside print) to a contrasting 2.5" x 4" rectangle (lining print) along a long edge, using a 1/4" seam, of course. Fold wrong sides together and press, leaving 1/8" of the lining showing on the fold.

Fold each side of the outside towards the middle of the rectangle, forming a triangle and press.

Sew a long basting stitch along the bottom of the prairie point to hold it in place. Measure 2" from the tip of the point and trim along the bottom. Points should measure 2" x 3 3/4" when complete.

I will keep my eye out for the magazine but I doubt it is available. I copied the picture of your quilt and may try and use if for inspriration.
