I enjoyed the show. I have heard some say it was "preachy' but I think it had alot of wisdom to offer.
I have been an occasional viewer over the years. She has done much for many. I respect her as a great human being.
I look forward to seeing what else she has to offer in the future.

I like Oprah but I too thought she was "preachy" on the last show and found it hard to watch. I thought Oprah would have made a good evangelist. I am glad all the "hype" is over. I usually don't watch tv during the day but if I remembered I would put her show on when it was repeated at 1:00 am. I don't have cable or satellite so I won't get to see any of her OWN network shows unless I watch them at a friend's house.

I think if they make a movie from the book, The Help, about African American maids in the south during the 60's, there would be a good part for Oprah.

I remember back in 70s she was a news woman on baltimore channel.I dont think shes worth billions but guess whos trying to steal her spot...Rachael Ray,Im sorry but I cant stand that woman.'
I had to laugh she had her husband on one time coking ,she was using those odd low sided casseroles shes got out.He went to pour it all ran out the hole in the dish.It was funny,now she sits with coffee in her hand uuuuhhhh

I never watched her. Oprah was always about Oprah. She never met a camera she did not like.

For me...I'm glad it's over. It's not like she did anything amazing or historical. She was a talk show host.

It's not like she "retired"...now that she has her own network. I have often wondered why her and Stedman have not married though.

I saw parts of it, and if it was "preachy" it was her show and she could do anything she wanted to. Maybe she wanted to leave her audiences w/ some words of wisdom. Who knows? I have always appreciated how she helped people--sending a lot of kids to college, giving things away, being generous. I've never been a huge fan, but you can't help but admire a generous person. Sure, she has A LOT, but a lot of people that have a lot are not generous. It's like they just can't get enough. So, that sure trumps any criticisms of her. Y'all that didn't like her "preachy" show should have just changed the channel.

I had a cocktail and felt sad; I'll miss Oprah.

I agree she is a good actress and have enjoyed each role she's played.

Had a chance to catch a few of the shows on OWN..some very interesting. It will take some time, but I like the direction Oprah is headed with her new network.

I think it's interesting that so many people who never watch her show comment about how stuck she is on herself. How do they know if they never watch her show? I watch her show and I don't see it. There's a flash now and then but really, she is pretty special and has done a lot of good things.

Good riddance.

And about her generosity....she has to cut her taxes somehow.

I can't imagine many people can relate to what it's like to pour your entire life into something for 25 years and then have it end. It wasn't just a job where you put in your 8 hours then go home. Yes, she has other projects but it's not the same. I imagine it's very difficult for her. I know I feel sad when people cut into a cake that I spent 8 hours making and decorating, lol.

It's always interesting that the people who complain that she never did anything are the ones who give back the least themselves. I'd be willing to bet most of them don't give generously to charity with their own money, yet somehow expect celebrities to give away almost everything. It's all relative and I'm sure all the many people she's been generous towards appreciate it.

Though I didn�t watch the show often, I admire and respect how she�s trying to live her life, help others and bring people up with her, not kicking them down on her way up the ladder. And she seems to manage to do it with some semblance of dignity and self-respect in a very fickle industry. She�s quite the business woman. I�d work for her in a heartbeat.

Dotmom, they did make a movie based on the novel "The Help" which I believe comes out this summer. It stars the girl that was in Easy A as Skeeter, sorry can't remember her name. Can't wait to see it. I do remember Bryce Dallas Howard plays the snobby friend.

Sleeperblues.......Thankyou! I'll watch for it to come to our area. I have to admit I don't recognize any of those celeb's names, but it was such a good bookm I hope the movie lives up to it.

I enjoyed her shows. But please keep in mind that the generosity didn't come out of her pocket, except for things like the school she built. The gifts, cars, houses, trips, all were from the companies. I do think some believe she has paid for all that out of pocket.
But it WAS her name that gave those companies the incentive to give away those things.
I did see a new side though. Oprah's show was her staff. They did everything. She got the glory. Glad to hear she paid them well, and they all will still have a job.
