Prayers needed for my Dusty

I really need some KT prayers. My little Dusty is sick and I donÂt think he is going to make it. DH and I noticed over the weekend that Dusty stopped eating and has only drank a few sips of water. We brought his liter box up from the basement because he canÂt climb the stairs very well. DH is going to the vet today to see what they think and he is going to buy DustyÂs favorite treats. We are preparing ourselves for the inevitable. We donÂt know if he will last the week and we will put him to sleep if he wonÂt start eating. My heart is breaking as I type this. Please pray for my Dusty....he's only 17

17??? What is that in human years???

I felt awful when my little tortie (who was 14) had to be put to sleep and I thought that was old for a cat.

My thoughts are with you...Dusty truly is a member of your family!

I'm up late so would like to hear the latest if you want to talk. I know you have been on the go before this with your puppy ordeal and then taking your kids to school. You must be exhausted as you enter into this new difficulty. I hope you have positive news by now. Hope you sleep tonight as you need to the fuel to think positively and hear what the docs are saying. I give you my prayers and energy.

Thanks everyone. I was hit with this out of the blue. I had no idea. We only live about 15 miles from each other, but we don't see, or talk to each other, often. Usually when DB calls, he wants something. I am sure it was hard for him to call and tell me. I know he is hurting for her. They are strong in faith, and I know that will help. I also don't know how many others in the family have been told. IE, my parents, or my other DB, so I don't want to say anything in case they don't know. I will be telling my 2 kids, tho. My "boys" were both 17 when they passed.
I'm so sorry for you guys...I know how hard it is.

I understand "only 17". Cats often live far longer than that. I lost one a couple of years ago at 20. Two of the ones I have now are 17 and going relatively strongly. 17 is no longer ancient.

I also understand your grief and fear. Please consider taking Dusty to the vet; there are potentially many things that could be wrong and treatable. In the meantime, pick up some human baby food (Gerber, Beech-Nut) - chicken, beef, or turkey (no onions, no garlic). That often will get them to eat something and get their appetite going again.

Folks, don't fall for the "7 years per dog/cat year" fallacy to the situation. That is not at all true.

I'm so sorry to hear about Daisy. I'm hoping her appetite will come back, that's always a good sign. I do know one thing-you will know when it's time to put her down. When you know for sure that she's not getting any better. God Bless all of you. I know our pets are full members of our family.

I too am sorry to hear your "Dusty" isn't himself. I hope the favorite treats will perk his appetite. Sure hope he makes a big improvement.

I know how worried you must be. I've been through it many times myself. I've also had some happy surprises after seeing the vet, so I hope this is one of these times for you, too.

I hope the vet found something to help Dusty and he is doing better by now. Our oldest kitty is 16 and I really feel for you.

I'm holding one of my babies in my arms right now. She loves to jump up for a snuggle when I'm at the computer. I'll pray for Dusty. I always ask for St. Francis to intercede.
