Prayers needed for my kids please

My new DIL just called. She got a call from her midwife this morning, after glucose test and ultrasound yesterday. The baby stopped growing and heart has not developed after 6 weeks. She is 9 weeks. She has had no symptoms of miscarriage. The midwife thinks it is possibly because of her endometriosis and that the baby probably didn't seat in a good spot. If she doesn't miscarry before Christmas, they will abort after Christmas. I feel so bad for them. She is 31 or 32, and they weren't sure she could get pregnant with the endometriosis. DS is at work. She has two boys, 8 & 13, who are so excited to be big brothers. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. This is on top of being the first Christmas with my Dad gone, will make it extra hard this Christmas.

You guys are wonderful! I talked to Gaile last night. She took Shelby to the opthalmologist again the other day. Thankfully, she is fine! No sign of any problem. The doctor doesn't feel she needs to be seen again for this potential problem, but Gaile said she will continue to take pictures of Shelby to see if the "glare" shows up again. The doctor Shelby has been seeing is well versed in this rare eye cancer, so we feel pretty confident she knows what she's doing. None of the more recent pictures of Shelby...and we've taken a lot of them...have shown the same reflection the Christmas Eve photos showed. Gaile is into photography and will be taking many pictures to see if it shows again. She is still nervous about this and will follow through on it. After a little while, I will mention she might take Shelby to yet another doctor...to be sure...just incase she isn't already planning to. I can't help but wonder...like a couple of you have mentioned...with all of the prayers going out for Shelby right away...could she have been healed before she even saw the doctor? Only God knows! The whole thing is very puzzling...no one but Shelby had that glare in their eyes, and there were a lot of other people in the pictures that night. Thank you all for the prayers. I'm up late so would like to hear the latest if you want to talk. I know you have been on the go before this with your puppy ordeal and then taking your kids to school. You must be exhausted as you enter into this new difficulty. I hope you have positive news by now. Here's an update sent this morning. ----------------------------------------------------- Want to say "THANK YOU" for the prayers, God is working--he had hives, they gave him Benadryl, which completely cleared up the hives and the Dr's were amazed, they thought it would only help with the itching. He had a rough night but this morning woke up hungry. The dr's said he is producing the toxin but all of his "numbers" were up/potassium, kidney, etc. so they are pleased but will keep a close watch on him until Saturday so he is still not out of the woods but at this point he is much better and God is answering the prayers.

Thanks everyone. I was hit with this out of the blue. I had no idea. We only live about 15 miles from each other, but we don't see, or talk to each other, often. Usually when DB calls, he wants something. I am sure it was hard for him to call and tell me. I know he is hurting for her. They are strong in faith, and I know that will help. I also don't know how many others in the family have been told. IE, my parents, or my other DB, so I don't want to say anything in case they don't know. I will be telling my 2 kids, tho. Jeaninwa, the midwife says the baby is already gone, she just hasn't miscarried yet. But you are right. So hard.

Ah, I feel for your DIL and son. I went through the same thing over the holidays in 1978, although I was supposedly 12 weeks along. I never did show signs of miscarriage and pregnancy tests kept coming back positive, even the blood ones. Sometimes the body reabsorbs the tissue but a D&C is necessary to clean everything up.
I hope the new year will bring better news for their family. It isn't an easy situation to face.

What a misfortune ... and to come when everyone else is happy (or, supposed to be, and usually appear to be) makes it all the more difficult, feeling that one is out of the mainstream. Especially at a time when many in our society are celebrating the successful birth of a child.

I also send good thoughts to the couple in their bereavement, even though they never got to hold the little one in their arms.

And they have the added burden of their earlier worry that the pregnancy might well not happen, which could well extend into the future, even though that is not top of mind to them at present.

May they find some peace of mind as they face the situation at hand and work through it, a day at a time ... and may the others who are close to the situation find it, as well.

I offer some prayers on behalf of all of you who are involved in this really hurtful loss.

We are wondering if maybe the midwife is wrong. So far there have been no physical signs of miscarriage. We are praying that she isn't as far along as the midwife thinks. If she isn't, then everything is ok. DIL will make them do another ultrasound after Christmas. We are praying hard. No matter what the outcome.

I am reading this late because I was on vacation, but my first suggestion would be to see an ob doctor. There are many levels of midwives, some with not much training. I can tell you horror stories of situations I've encountered. Perhaps by this time they have some good news? I'm sorry if I missed a later post giving an update.

I am so sorry to hear this. I had typed a message after your first posting but I must have not hit enter as it didn't show up. I went through the Christmas holidays one year, not being sure if I had miscarried or not. All the blood work kept coming back positive but no signs of fetus. Sometimes the body reabsorbs the tissue - I know that isn't easy to hear but it happens. A D&C might be in order to make sure all is ok.

I know its a difficult time - my prayers are with your family.
