It is a rainy dreary day and that matches how I feel today.
I have some smoked boneless pork loin chops and some zatarans jambalaya rice (the heat in the microwave pouch kind). I have not tried that rice yet so this will be a first test. We got a bag of avocados at Sams so might have some.

Sauteed veal bratwurst with gravy, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts.

The sun is out first time since Fri, so we had to go to work & cut grass. Tonight it was crab cakes with brown rice, for me it was a cube steak.

Raven, sure hope you get some sunshine tomorrow and feel better. Enjoy your dinner. Let us know how you like that rice.

Mary c, I don't believe I've ever seen veal bratwurst, but your dinner sure sounds good!

Yea, Mary--glad you got some sun. We got some rain but only for about 10 minutes. Got some hail, too, but it melted the minute it hit the car from the heat. Was the grass dry enough to mow already--guess it was, since you mowed :-) Love cubed steak. It was a staple when I was growing up.

Good evening! We just finished supper (dinner). Had homemade meatloaf with corn on the cob and leftover potato salad. Was good!

Patti, my husband mows with a 63" commercial mower so we don't have to wait till the lawns are dry, thank goodness or we would not be starting work till after 12 noon.

I knew I would be busy all day today so last night I took a dish of chicken scarpariello out of the freezer. Yesterday I got the closet switched around to Spring and summer clothes and today I ironed all day. It's nice to see empty laundry baskets, but I sure hate ironing. I'm making some parslied rice right now to go along with the chicken and sausage.

It rained all day here. Hopefully the sun will be shining tomorrow.

Not much for dinner because I made Thai Pineapple Rice for lunch with my daughter-in-law today. I usually bring lunch to her house once a week. The recipe is linked below. It was good!

Baked chicken. I don't know what I will fix with it....last time I made baked chicken, I fixed cornbread dressing but not going to that extent this time. I don't have any potatoes, so guess I will make rice and gravy....because Jody thinks rice and gravy should be on the menu every night....and some vegetable. I may make some okra and tomatoes. That would go good with rice too. Yeah....that's what I will do.

Had a hamburger, minus the bun, along with mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus. 'Twas good!

had the last chunk of the huge meatloaf i made last month...salad, but darn it forgot to get my lite raspberry dressing so had dh's lite 1000 is...hardly any dishes, since we're leaving tomorrow for fil's (ugh)

i might try to cook while we're there...got stuck going out the last time to this aweful denny's wanna-be, 3x's! just can't do that again!

Hellion, it must've been a meatloaf kind of night--I almost made corn on the cob, too. Decided we needed to finish the asparagus since I cleaned out the frig today and threw out stuff we hadn't eaten. I just hate to do that!

Wow, Mary--that's one big lawn mower! It'd only take a minute to mow our yard. It takes yard maintenence about 15 minutes to mow, edge and use the blower. The even clean my front porch :-)

Georgysmom, I pity you for having to iron all day. Ick! Glad you got rain, gotta keep those greens green, 'ya know.

Alisande, thanks for the recipe. Now I have something new for our meatless night. I try to avoid meat one night a week, but don't always follow through. The recipe sounds really good.

Marilyn, rice and gravy sound wonderful with the chicken. Jody will be a happy man! I've read your post about your "visitor" and it is haunting me for some reason. I don't know what I would have done if I was in that situation. I do have a gun and know how to use it, but it hasn't been used for probably 15 years, so who knows if it works or not.

Phyllis, glad to see in the paper that you are finally getting a little spring. I'm sort of a weather nut--I love looking at the weather forecast in cities, especially those I've visited. Harry and I have decided we really don't like hamburgers on buns. First of all, they are too filling and besides that, the carbs we could do without. I love to have just a hamburger patty with cottage cheese and sliced tomatoes some nights for dinner.

Susanjf, another meatloaf person :-) It doesn't sound like you're looking forward to going to your FIL's. Hope you find something you can do to make the time go faster--so cooking may be just the thing.

Mamatoad, it all sounds good, but if you have a little pineapple casserole left, could you pass it this way please?

I had a late late dinner tonight. I had frozen purple hull peas and wanted to make some sort of beans/peas & rice dish. The package stated to bring the peas to a boil for 3 minutes and simmer for 45 minutes. Well? After 50 minutes of cooking, it was only halfway tendered. I went online and check how long others cooked their purple hull peas. The answers were anywhere from 1-1/2 hours to 2 hours. So, I continued to cook it until tender. Total cooking time was about 2 hours.

It was worth the waiting. The meal was good and satisfied (^_^). Looks like, I'd be having this for the next 3 days. LOL, it was a fairly big pot for just 1 person.
