Tom, Pardon my ignorance, but I am not clear on your points. It does look like pulling the carb is the next step, as I tried "running" the engine by providing a constant flow of gas into the air cleaner and it runs OK that way. But it did not end up sucking through any gas on it's own. Regarding carb removal, it looks like the carb is simply mounted the same studs that secure the air filter assembly, and it may actually be held in place by tightening down the air filter assembly against the carb - at least that's what it looks like - I don't see other nuts that are holding the carb body to the engine. I tried pulling gently on the carb to see if it would simply slide out a bit on those studs, but no dice. And I didn't want to really yank on the carb. Sounds like you are saying that the studs need to be removed? Do you know if the carb will slide off those studs with a little more "pull"? Again, any help is greatly appreciated. It will be frustrating to have everything cleaned up so nicely, only to have to bring it to the shop (and pay big bucks!) for merely cleaning the jets.

Last night our rose society celebrated one of our oldest living rosarians and a consulting rosarian who will be leaving our area and returning to his homeland, England, with his lovely wife of 60 years. The dinner party was held at the home of a fellow rosegrower. Jon, the CR who was being feted asked me to walk out in the garden with him and help him identify some of the roses. He is getting cataracts now and making it more difficult to see, but he can see negative's and positive's. He remarked on what a great mulch they had and wondered why the roses were so small. He knew they hardly pruned, guessing that was one of the reasons for the small bloom. He walked over to a tea and asked me if it was Mrs. B.R. Cant (which it was) as he was no longer able to see them as he once did. He had helped them install their watering system which he designed a few years ago. He showed me how it worked and was appalled that I had never asked his advice for the same since my garden was so large. I swear it could be patented. It was the best watering system I have ever seen. He asked me about another tea which he could not decide between Madame Lombard and Monsier Tillier (I told him it looked like MT). He asked about some of the HTs, some of the newer ones that he was not familiar with. Two of them I had to guess myself as there were no name tags. All the while buffet was being set up inside. We walked over to a whitish yellow rose which we both thought from a distance was lovely and he said is it "Elina or Lemon Spice?" I pulled it closer to him and he said, "Lemon Spice." We both smiled as we both knew it was. He paused, crossed his arms and said, "When will gardeners ever learn to quit using all the fancy names and just use 8-8-8 or 13-13-13? Three times a season, no more, no less. One cannot be to busy for that, now can one, when one is mixing potions and teas for what? I tell you, it is one of the best things ever invented, the low neutral fertilizers. They need to use it. This garden needs help and the mulch is good, the water is good, just feel the moisture, just the right level." I asked him how in this poor soil could he have such a lovely garden (I have seen his many times) with just neutral fertilizers. He said, "Long ago, I built the soil. Once the soil was built, I left her alone. She will be good for a while with mushroom mulch. Someday it will need working but it has done well for 20+ years, yes, 8-8-8 has kept her that way and I will miss the soil from my garden, not the house, but the neighbors that I came to love in the garden, but the soil I built and the lovely friends I made along the way, like those of you here tonight. I will miss you, all of you but my time to garden has passed. I want to keep in touch with you. Don't be a stranger. Let me know by telephone or computer. You seem to understand more and inquire more about gardening than winning rose shows." Let me add, he had to be a great gardener in Scotland to get the job here that he had, caring for the best gardens in this state until age caught up with him. He has won many queens in rose competitions. He grows all kinds of groundcovers and perennials in his rose garden.

That hole is called the siphon jet opening. If the toilet just swirls but won't flush properly, then something probably went through the siphon jet opening and is in that cavity. I flushed some freeze-dried salmon dog treats and this happened to me. One of them made it through that hole. You need to put on a latex glove and put your finger into that hole. You will probably feel a foreign object in there. You will need to coax the foreign object out of there with your finger while the toilet is flushing.

What kind of toliet is it? Is it a ball cock fill valve or float? How long is the fill tube in the center of the tank? I would change the fill valve first. The reason I say this is because if you can pour a 5gal bucket down the toliet and it flushes good then you dont have and obstructed trap or drain line. The toliet is not producing enough flow of water to flush solids and paper down the toliet.
