That's amazing, that she is loaning him the money. She must feel terrible about how it went. It's wonderful that you think you'll be getting your money back.

I'm very glad to hear that you're getting your $8,000 back. The friend that recommended the contractor is definitely a good friend, if they're paying HIS debt so that you're not inconvenienced any more than you have been. And I'm sure hoping you don't get any wet weather before the new roofer comes!

Maybe the repayment is a bit of karma coming back to reward you for everything you've done for and given this fellow in the years he's needed the assistance. Glad to hear the good news for you and hope that whatever happens to the fellow you're caring for, that he be comfortable and not suffer.

My friend who recommended him, is going to loan him the money.
Supposedly, he has part of it. Is that wise, letting him have cash in hand under the circumstances. Why is she not giving it directly to you?? With his record, I wouldn't trust him with cash. She can still have some type of written agreement with him. It could all be done at the same time, or so.

Thank you. Believe me...she will get the money that he has, and the rest she will give directly to me. He will have to make payments to her. He is her husband's friend, and she said she called him several times, but he wouldn't answer his phone, so her husband went to see him. I think he is danged lucky to have someone like them try to help him out of this jam. I don't care. I just need to get the roof on my house. The tarp blew off last evening. My friend is a bulldog....she won't let him go.

Ken is doing a little better today. I just came home to take care of my animals, and have to go back. I am sleeping there...on a futon mattress on the floor. I have to take my dogs with me, and they aren't too bad at night, but when daylight comes, the pup wants to play, so I bring them home, go back, come back in the evening and feed the horses, etc., and go back and spend the night.

Kat, no one visits him. Most of his family live on the same block, and one daughter lives about 5 miles away, and one son was in Alaska working, but I don't know if he came back or not. He has been back several times over the past 4 years and came to see him dad only once.

This is such good news, Marilyn! We are so glad & so relieved for you.

And you are such a good person to be so caring to Ken.

I'm glad your friend has worked out a plan so that you get your money back. It would be terrible if you lost the money and a good friend.

As for the crook who worked on your house, fouled up much of it and stole your $8,000 -- well, he is VERY lucky you have chosen not to prosecute him. I'm glad to know you are getting your $8K back, and the carpenter will have to deal directly with your mutual friend regarding his payback to her. Based on what I've read it will take her years to get that money from him -- if ever. [Rhetorical question] What's left is what is in place to prevent him from doing to future customers what he has done to you.
