What is Your Favorite?

What is your favorite pie and what is your favorite cake.

My favorite pie is coconut cream with meringue and my favorite cake is hummingbird cake. I never met a pie I didn't like!

Couldn't possibly pick one. I like pecan, coconut cream, pumpkin with whipped cream and coffee. The list goes on and on. My German Chocolate cake would be my favorite cake.

I like a very tart lemon meringue pie and a dark chocolate ice box pie with whipped cream that Luby's cafeteria makes. I bought their cookbook so I could have the recipe.

As far as cakes go...I like coconut and I like pineapple upside down cake, if it is made from scratch, the best.

mla20fus, my favorite flowers are perennials, so I don't have to plant them every year. I also love Holihocks, (sorry, every plant needs loved by someone :),especially by an old outhouse or shed. I plant very few annuals, but I truely love breadseed poppy, especially the bright red ones. They bloom with the Shasta Daisy and really make a show. The daisies were all volunteer, but now that I know how they look with my poppies, they can stay. I also plant gypsoia (sp?) and moss rose every year, they too are worth the effort. Are your fall Asters the deep purple ones?

Here is my list - - Additional blocking in the framing stage to accomodate grab bars, towel bars etc. Additional blocking being the slidebar of the shower also makes it sturdier to use as a grab bar. - Kerdi board for waterproofing - Heated wires throughout the floor including the shower area - Tall niches with shelves sized to fit the costco sized bottles - Tile that is not too slippery for the floor. Also used epoxy grout to make future maintenance easier. - frameless shower doors - we did pay a couple hundred dollars extra for the really clear glass - U-groove frameless - One of the bathrooms is curbless to accomodate access issues. Has nice looking grab bars and a folding teak shower seat that is ADA rated to 400lbs. - LED cans (california code) - Elongated Toto skirted toilets with sanigloss to make the cleaning easier - the special lutron switches where the fans stay on an extra 20 mins to clear all the steam. we used them with panasonic fans which are much much quieter than what we had in the past - wall mounted heated towel rods - hooks instead of towel bars.. I just preferred the more streamlined look of hooks - plug outlets inside the vanity to charge things. - wheeled laundry basket with divers to sort laundry has a niche to be tucked in. - separate toilet stall with a door. We did not do comfort height as we are not overly tall people. Elongated toto toilets with an integrated skirt to make cleaning easier and a GFCI outlet to plug in a washlet. - paper towel holder from Moen that doubles as a grab bar in the ADA bathroom. - accomodated for daylight (skylight or a window) in both the bathrooms to help people to wake up in the morning.. I love the daylight. - radio for listening in the morning. We are big public radio fans - wall mounted lighted makeup mirror - mirror defogger to prevent the mirror from getting steamed up.. - vac pan at the floor level that connects to our central vac system to make daily cleanups a breeze. I am picky about hair on the floor - solid core doors to prevent bathroom noises from being heard outside. I often have to get ready before dawn and the shower noise wakes DH up. - recirculating pump for our tankless to avoid warm water delays. Ours is integrated into the tankless. - Hansgrohe ibox to get the thermostatic control to preset the preferred temprature - Ebbe integrated drain that has a hidden hair snare. - Handheld shower with a longer hose to make it easier to clean the walls. - rain shower on a longer arm so that you can stand away from the wall.

I love the functional things that we changed in our "refresh" last year: a large single-bowl sink, wipeable tile backsplash, replacing light-sucking black appliances with light-reflective stainless, converting base cabinets to drawer bases with soft close slides, adding a light-reflective quartz countertop on the sink side & a warm cherry butcherblock countertop by the range, and replacing upper cabinets with open shelving for everyday dishes, Our kitchen had an existing seating area with built-in banquette, which we (and our cats) love, and use daily.

Love ( in no particular order) Extra deep counters with a full row of appliance garages and lots of outlets and plug mold so I have plenty of room for my toys without having to put them away every day or haul them out, so they are always on hand. An extra deep appliance drawer for those appliances I don’t use every day. My skylights and extra windows bringing in extra light. My Aga induction Elise ( boils a cup of water in 30 seconds). My double height ceilings with stunning ceiling height tile behind my Aga creating a focal point. Lots of drawers. Lots of storage space. My pantry with lots of space for mason jars and vacuum sealable containers. So much counter space and workspace for multiple cooks and helpers ( should we ever get back to having extra people over ) Great combination of aesthetics and function. Convection steam oven. Lots of refrigeration space. A great extraction hood. Orienting my work space to my view. My Koehler ombré sensation faucet (my cat gives it a thumbs up too. It provides hours of entertainment for her ). My unique cedar( with inlaid glass )countertops. Some glass fronted upper cabinets for interest and display. Ceiling fans. Places for my cats to sit and access to windows for them. My monogram 48 in refrigerator/ freezer ( on close out). Didn’t think I’d love it as much as subzero. The appliances I got on close out, saving a ton of money. 1 and Half hp garbage disposers. My instant hot water and filtered water dispenser. Hate Not having ( some of) my appliances panel ready. ( what I’m used to ). The stainless steel always shows everything and I’m always cleaning them. Hate my copper sinks. Also never look clean and don’t drain well. And a break down in communication resulted in them not being under mount. That the lighting designer never got here so instead of a centralized Lutron panel, light switches are in different areas. Interesting question. I don't like pie, not any kind of pie, but I've been told I make great pies. I really don't like cake either, LOL. I make wonderful cookies, but only for my son and his friends. I do like to bake, and I enjoy decorating cookies. I just don't eat them. I just really don't enjoy sweet things.

Geez, hard to choose just one. One of my favorite pies is Boston Creme Pie, but there is this Peanut Butter Pie that The Big Fish Restaurant in Rehobeth Beach, DE has. It's the best I've ever tasted. One of my favorite cakes is triple layer chocolate with chocolate icing. My mom's Jewish apple cake is awesome too. Yum!

lemon meringue with pumpkin as a close second for the pie, and cake is spice with a good cream cheese icing, with applesauce as a close second, but to be honest, a cupcake of any flavor will get me LOL

Is cheesecake a cake or a pie? That's my favorite of absolutely anything. I also favor Key Lime pie and strawberry shortcake. I don't care much for frosted cakes.

Key Lime Pie made with KEY LIMES.
Blackberry cobbler. My mother always made one for me when I came home.

Italian Cream Cake, Hummingbird Cake, Texas Sheet Cake

Lemon Meringue, although I like all pies. Cream, fruit, doesn't matter; I like them all.

Cake would be carrot with cream cheese frosting. Lot's of cream cheese frosting.

Lately though I've been making Diet Soda Cake. Any cake mix, combined with 3/4 can of any diet soda. No other ingredients. I like choc cake with diet cherry coke the best, but vanilla cake with diet orange soda is yummy too! Got the recipe at a Weight Watchers meeting.

My homemade pecan pie. I just use the recipe on the Karo Syrup jar - and I always use the [clear] light syrup. Everyone who tastes it says it's the best pecan pie they've ever had, which astounds me, because I simply follow the recipe...

I also love banana cream pie and lemon meringue pie.

My favorite cake is deep chocolate with chocolate butter cream frosting. But, I also really like spice cake, German chocolate cake, and carrot cake.

My favorite I-don't-know-if-it's-cake-or-pie is New York Cheesecake.
