Would you be open to a fully upholstered parsons chair in the same fabric as the seat of these chairs? I think it would be fun to contrast a sofer seat with the cool lines of your chair, but not everyone likes big contrasts.

Those are pretty chairs, Marita! One option you might consider is buying Parsons chairs for the head and foot of the table and using slipcovers to match or coordinate with the seat cushions of the oak chairs.
Another option would be to look for oak chairs for the head and foot with arms and with upholstered backs and seats in a similar style to your Kincaid chairs. You could recover the back and seats to work with your Kincaids or vice versa. I'd definitely look for oak over another wood, although the stains could be different, as long as they work well with each other.

Thanks for your input. What I should have mentioned is that I currently have two side chairs and two arm chairs, so the head and foot of the table already have chairs. Perhaps a couple of parson's chairs would be the way to go. I guess I'm still holding out, though, to see whether any similar chairs to the ones I have will ever materialize. Someone must have bought this set before it was discontinued and is now wanting to sell it because oak is no longer "the thing"!

Don't worry about your set not being "the thing". Heavy grains have made a comeback, it's just that they're now called "ash" instead of "oak", lol. Not much difference in the woods, themselves.

My DR table is from French Heritage and has heavy grain.

I love your chairs (I have a Kincaid coffee table). My only suggestion would be to see if you could, maybe, find four other side chairs and use your other two (sides) as accents in the room. Don't know if you have the space.

I have a similar issue. I swapped my lr and dr. Now I have 6 chairs around a fully extended table in an oversized dr. Parson's chairs will probably be my solution (when I get around to it). But they need to be tall and Carrington Court chairs are too petite. I have American Drew Cherry Grove.

My suggestion for you is do a nationwide craigslist search by typing the following "Kincaid's Governor's Oak site:craigslist.org". You may find something nearby, if you're lucky. Good luck!

Try searching for Chippendale instead of Queen Anne. Although there are others on this site far more knowledgeable of styles than I, the back looks more Chippendale to me. It looks like a Chippendale back with Queen Anne type spoon feet.

Could you find somewhere else to use the two side chairs? Perhaps a desk or in the breakfast room? And then buy 4 side chairs that match. I think the suggestions for Parsons-style chairs upholstered similar to the seat of the existing chairs would be great. Or you can go in a totally different direction with the upholstery, since it would not take much time or effort to change out the slip seats on the dining chairs to make them match the new chairs.

Many thanks for all your suggestions! Although oak doesn't seem to be popular right now, I love it and always have. I have a house full of oak antiques, and I'm sure not changing styles any time soon!

Jeff, I've searched off and on for almost a year, and they are simply not available. I did see a set on Craigslist--but they were across the country from me.

I decided to purchase some Stakmore folding chairs in a Queen Anne oak color for additional seating for the table. Not the best solution, but I live in a small condo and needed something that could be stored in a closet.
