oven mitts

Another day, another burn and I have decided I need mitts that cover my wrists yet are flexible enough to allow me to grab the probe out the side of the oven without burning myself (again) on the handle of the roasting pan, to allow me to pull out a thin flat baking sheet, to grab a casserole dish and anything else you can think of.

HELP!!!!

And I guess this time, price will not be a concern. Hey, maybe they'll show up as one of my holiday gifts.

I have some really old ones with pigs on them that my (then) little sister got me when I moved out of my parents' house. They are disgusting. I haven't found suitable replacements either but will be checking out those leather ones.

We had a Henckels paring knife for thirty years. We used it on hard cheeses, mostly cheddar, Gruyere, and Manchego. Last week, the blade split in half. My sense is that line Henckels has diminished in quality since 1983, so I am not going to replace it. Perhaps you could call this source and ask about their recommendations. I love my KWC faucet. It's not too tall, so doesn't splash, the sink is 9" deep. I like the fact that the spray can be activated by pressing down with the wrist. I find it more ergonomical than having to twist my wrist and use my thumb to activate the spray. I went to a place with a large selection of faucets and tried them out. It was $375, so pricey, but worth it.

Here you go, the uppers have the calander hanging on one side and emergency numbers on right door and all the office things live here. There is an outlet for charging cameras and "my" stuff. On the counter is an outlet for the land line. Antique tray is our magnet board. Top drawer has a powerstrip attached to the back for DH's electronics this is "his" drawer for keys and anything else. Bottom drawer is the coupons, and "junk" drawer as I have found it is inevitable! Basket is home for shoes. There is now a cushion on the dog kennel. Once Buddy is no longer we can pop an end panel on kennel and the lid under cushion lifts for more storage. Hope this helps! From Kitchen before and after From Kitchen before and after

I always burn myself on the oven rack, so I thought these rack guards looked like a good idea.

jxbrown, fwiw, I bought a bunch of those to put on my oven racks. Yes, they do work...but they were a PAIN! I could no longer slide things on/off the shelf. I found them to be impractical...jmho!!!

I don't care for mitts, either. Or the silicone pad. I just like the good old-fashioned terry cloth pot holder. I bought some newer quilted ones (not terry) that won't bend easily enough to grip the pan! LOL! I'm always on the search for terry cloth potholders. I must be in the minority since I have a hard time finding them.

I've never seen a terry one, looks interesting.

My skin is supersensitive I suppose because DH could always use one pot holder and he didn't get burned. My hands always burned with just one, and oven mits never are thick enough to keep them from burning so I use potholders exclusively and I always sandwich two of them together.
