Paint colour And decor help/ideas...please!

I just bought this bedding including the chocolate sheets. I love it!

My floors are walnut and furniture/ bed are a bit lighter...more of a rust tone w/pewter hardware.

Any wall colour suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I was also thinking pewter/silver lamps with clear glass....thoughts? And chocolate sheers or solid panel curtains....

Any feedback is greatly appreciated !

I think a medium toned olive would be nice. Too dark, and your roof and house will just blend in together. I would do an warm white trim, not stark white. A rusty red for the front door would really stand out against the olive. Or, consider a warm fall gold color. Be sure you paint the garage door the same color as the house, otherwise the white or off-white massive door will be the focal point. Gate the same as the house color, with the raised panels in the trim color. I would get rid of the overgrown bush to the left of the garage and put a nice planter there instead. I would also think about creating a curved bed that comes from the right side of the house and meanders down to the point where the little sidewalk turns to the front door - right at the point of the angle. That lawn space isn't really useful, but a pretty bed of low plantings and bushes that come up along the front of the house will take the eye to that area of the home, and bring it forward to balance the garage being so far to the front. It is a charming house, and your new colors will really make it feel even more welcoming.

What don't you like about your vanity and mirror? How do YOU define bright and happy? If this were my space, I'd remove 'Splash' and get a bright fabric I loved and hang it at ceiling height as a shower curtain. Hung from ceiling to floor outside the tub, it would make a huge focal point that would distract from anything else I disliked in the room. (Keep the other rod for the actual shower curtain.) I agree with cpartist about the backsplash. It doesn't jive with the rest. I'd probably change the mirror to a round one similar to this and get my kids' artwork on the wall. Seriously one of the cheapest and most personal ways of adding colour and art to a home!

I found your home’s sibling. :) Ok, it seems like you have some good, definitive ideas. I’m not sure how to help ... I think any of your proposed schemes would look great. I came across this and love the blue: Some others: I could post so many more! Other than a Victorian, this style of house has the most fun, unique, varied, and interesting color palette options. Truly limitless. It sounds like you really love the idea of black paint, though ... what’s your hesitation on that?

Lots of potential for major charm. :) Depending on privacy needs, some window treatment ideas: Cafe curtains … Cafe shutters … Full shutters … Roman shades … Bamboo shades: Or a simple (but very charming!) curtain … For walls — are you asking about paint or wallpaper? Or wanting to leave the color as is? I could see wainscoting with paint or wallpaper looking great in this style bath, but not sure if you’re wanting that sort of change (or even like that look): For shelves — what do you think about a vintage style cabinet? For example, something like this apothecary cabinet from Ballard Designs: The above comes in white, too. Love the idea of a vintage or antique one: You could get very cute vintage style glass or ceramic knobs for a cabinet. For a rug — so many possibilities! It’s just based on preferences. What styles do you like? Do you want something with color(s) or stay neutral? My own preference is traditional and colorful: But something neutral would look fine, too, if that’s your preference.

Pretty bedding -- and I love your ideas! :)

How about this paint color -- and fresh white trim (try BM White dove) with fresh white sheers (for the warm weather) -- and then add rich dark chocolate brown velvet panels for the cooler weather. You could also do white sheets for a change with your bedding ... again ... nice for the warmer weather.

Add lots of pewter/silver items around the whole room -- silver photo frames; maybe add a silver tray on a dresser with a silver-framed mirror?

I don't have any ideas, but think teacats ideas are great, and I love the bedding! I'm interested to know how long the sheets will stay dark... I had some dark blue sheets once and they faded. Does anyone know how to wash them so they don't fade?

I've heard soaking dark colors in vinegar the 1st time helps them from fading.

Colorful designs is very good especially on our eyes. I hope that you can establish more colorful designs.

The bedding is beautiful! And I love teacats suggestion of color for the walls. I think it will look stunning!

Thanks for the suggestions :) Teacat, I picked up a sample of Silver Fox and you nailed it. It looks awesome with the bedding!!

So that bedding with Silver Fox walls...anyone have thoughts of a good accent color to add a punch of colour??

Very pretty bedding and very pretty wall color Jan found for you. As for an accent color I'd go with a green. You can see in the photo of the bedding how well greens look. Ofcourse my favorite colors are all shades of green.

The fresh white sheers and trim will act as a summery accent -- but adding a large white silk orchid in a fresh green or silver pot would look amazing! See how the fresh green in the photo works so well with the bedding?

you can try light, light gray walls with a white trim for a contemporary look. or just stick to plain white or gray. The room has a lot in it (from the picture) so I wouldn't go dark on the walls or curtains. It will overdo the beautiful look you have now.
