bathroom decor ideas please

last year

I have 1920s bathroom that we remodeled. I need to ideas for shelving, wall, window covering, and bath rug. please help! not sure if i should do wood/browns chrome, or other. There will be a glass door, etc on the shower. thanks much!

Depending on privacy needs, some window treatment ideas:

Or a simple (but very charming!) curtain …

For walls — are you asking about paint or wallpaper? Or wanting to leave the color as is? I could see wainscoting with paint or wallpaper looking great in this style bath, but not sure if you’re wanting that sort of change (or even like that look):

For shelves — what do you think about a vintage style cabinet? For example, something like this apothecary cabinet from Ballard Designs:

The above comes in white, too.

Love the idea of a vintage or antique one:

You could get very cute vintage style glass or ceramic knobs for a cabinet.

For a rug — so many possibilities! It’s just based on preferences. What styles do you like? Do you want something with color(s) or stay neutral?

My own preference is traditional and colorful:

But something neutral would look fine, too, if that’s your preference.

I prefer to keep decorative items to a minimum in the bathroom for ease of cleaning. Some pretty hand towels, a hand soap dispenser, and maybe a scented candle on the tub ledge, and that would be about it for me.

What don't you like about your vanity and mirror? How do YOU define bright and happy? If this were my space, I'd remove 'Splash' and get a bright fabric I loved and hang it at ceiling height as a shower curtain. Hung from ceiling to floor outside the tub, it would make a huge focal point that would distract from anything else I disliked in the room. (Keep the other rod for the actual shower curtain.) I agree with cpartist about the backsplash. It doesn't jive with the rest. I'd probably change the mirror to a round one similar to this and get my kids' artwork on the wall. Seriously one of the cheapest and most personal ways of adding colour and art to a home!

I am going to take better pictures to add to this once I get home, but here is an old picture of the bathroom before it was repainted that may help! And also adding one to show the layout. Really just looking for ALL ideas as far as how to make it functional but look nice as well. We are going to replace the vanity at some point which I know will make a big difference, but the rest of the bathroom I am stuck on.

thanks for the ideas! i like the bamboo blinds and the wainscotting ideas. i will incorporate those for sure.
