We moved into this house last year and so far the media room which is over our garage has served as air conditioned storage :D Slowly we've culled the junk and it's ready to be a real room. It's quite large and I don't anticipate using it as a media room. It is painted dark brown, both walls and ceiling with black (oil based) trim; the woodwork is 4 inch baseboards, with all the door + trim and 2 regular sized windows all painted black

I thought I'd make it into a playroom for my grandchildren; my question is the black trim - it looks like a "bear" to repaint. And brown, although good for a media room is a little dreary for small children

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a wall color that would complement the black, preferably not white, so that I could keep the painting to a minimum. Any advice would be much appreciated,
