Even though we're all probably super busy today, let's not forget to take a moment to reflect upon what we are truly thankful for this year. This message board being just one of the many things.... Always helpful folks, and there's always so much to learn from everyone.

I'm also thankful dish towels are one-size-fits-all and there will be plenty of people to prove that point today when it comes to clean-up. ;-)

Well, due to overwhelming response, this offer is now closed. I am glad that folks responded. I hate to toss something so pretty out. While I didn't pay for them they gladly grow and bloom for me. I appreciate their effort and beauty. I will dig them as soon as they are done blooming. I may have over 50 here. If so I wil extend this to the posters on down the list as quantities allow. I need mailing addresses. I checked email and postings here. I had four people respond via email as I requested. They were: crazy4hydrangea lady_pennywort sandylovesflowers pansyface2006 I took my 5th official name from the first of those to post here with a reply. That was: keesha2006 If the digging results in more than 50 I will glady extend this to the remaining 3 folks to respond. Those are: echoes or tricia123 hedgwytch If you would all EMAIL me your mailing addresses with a note so that I know what your gardenweb name is I would appreciate it. 'Previous Life'

I am in my first marriage and have several 'previous lives' since I became an adult (legal age). I was a teenage mom that had dropped out of high school and worked in fast food. (I went back & finished through the adult school) I later moved in with a BF for several years. In that life, I was a student and mom to six kids. I worked at a department store when the kids were small. Then my life transitioned when I started working in social services. Once I had a regular work schedule and the kids were school aged, I volunteered in the community more, lead the scouts for my boys, and spent most of my time driving my kids to sports, dance, & scouts. Then I became single again and was a struggling single parent with teenagers. I had health problems and then I resigned my 'desk' job to be my own boss. In this life, I am a wife, a mom to grown kids, a step mom & run my own business. It's very different than all of my previous lives. Some of the people in my past lives don't even recognize me anymore. My husband has his previous lives too. He isn't the same person he was when he was married before. Or when he was with his daughter's mom. Or when he was a single dad. In my opinion, the phrase 'previous life' is only talking about a life that doesn't exist anymore. It is not disrespectful for the people in that life. The ex wife and the children had that same previous life and now their life is different too. It's only negative if you intend to use it as a negative. My children have been a part of all my previous lives and they have their own perceptions of it. I think it would be far worse to refer or to say 'previous family' as they are still a part of your family. One of the things that upset kids when a parent remarries, is the fear that they may somehow be replaced by the new or second family. Instead, they should be be made to feel a part of the new family, because they are.

My sister has told me that sometimes when my BIL has a flight and gets in at odd hours of the night, the USO will pick him up and bring him home so my sister doesn't have to get the kids out to pick him up. They don't request it; it's just something the USO offers to help ease the burden on the families. About 8 or so years ago, my brother went on his first deployment. He was in Yemen when the USS Cole was attacked. The Ombudsmen called my parents after it happened to report that my brother was alright. It was a huge relief! It was a hard 1-1/2 years for him. He called me one afternoon and was really candid. He said that he arrived at the airport, walked through all of his buddies and friends greeting their wives and kids and families, got on a bus and headed back to base. He felt so alone. He walked into his room in teh barracks and there was fruit basket from the USO welcoming him home and thanking him for his dedication. They also bought groceries and stocked his fridge for him. It actually lifted his spirits! He didn't feel so alone anymore. It really made a difference for him and gave him a sense that someone cared about him; just a single man doing what he can for his country. Another good organization is Navy Relief. They have helped my sister's family so much. Like when it has taken abmormally long to get moving expenses reimbursed, they have loaned my sister's family money to pay their bills and have bought them groceries until their reimbursement came in. They even gave the girls Christmas presents when they moved close to Christmas. It was so wonderful! You're right, Pfllh, there is much more support now for the military. Your story made me teary!

Chrinstine, I can find turkeys, but mostly they have capons in the 9-19 lb. range.
