Thanks. No, I cannot exchange the pole since it is not new but perhaps I can use the long black pole I used on the sliding glass door in a previous house. Thanks. The window is dinky anyway and the view is nothing to look at - the garbage cans and the driveway with my car. So from the outside the window will look the same with the white blinds but from the inside I could have the drapes almost fill the wall.
No pictures yet as the room is still filled with boxes, etc. and I still have to paint the walls. I should do a before and after photo shoot because it will be a HUGE transformation.
Thanks. Also any inexpensive ideas to hide garbage cans? The space behind the gate is too narrow to ft the cans and still walk by. They are most convenient on the front drive but not attractive. I don't have to worry about HOAs or neighbors since this is not that type of area. The guy across the street has a rooster and there are lots of horses n the neighborhood. A guy was driving a tractor carrying a bale of hay last week. And someone else was riding his horse down the street. It sounds so country yet I am less than a mile from a large grocery store, close to a main road, and not far from 2 freeways.

I vote for a bit of curtain camo mixed with art. Or can you rearrange the furniture? Or move the couch off the wall so the connection between the couch and the window is less relevant?

Midwife, unfortunately I cannot rearrange the furniture since it is one of those long narrow rooms that are always so challenging with which to work. I actually had drawn the room up in AutoCad and virtually arranged the furniture before I moved. I have 2 sofas,2 wing chairs, my long entertainment center with tv on top, a sofa table, 2 coffee tables, 5 end tables and a runner rug in the 20' x 10' space - it works though. Of course, the painting of this room will take lots of time since I can move the furniture only so far and everything will have to be covered in plastic. Plus I have to do primer (2 walls are green now and 2 have wallpaper over which I will paint) then paint the main coat.
Making slow progress on the house. Hung a lot of art already in the dining room and master bedroom. Those rooms are starting to shape up. The second bedroom will hold a new queen bed once I can swing that financially. Has to be a great sale on the mattress and boxspring. I already have the bed frame, bedding, drapes, art, and lighting for the room. The 3rd bedroom is the office and that will look great once I hang the art and mirror.
