Help with window treatment for off centered window

We're moving to a new house. We have old long drapes that we were thinking of putting in the guest bedroom to re-use them vs. give them away or leave them in the house we are selling. The windows in the guest bedroom are not centered on the outside wall, they are more towards the right. Would it look odd to have drapes that go down to the floor on a window that is not centered? The window currently has blinds (albeit they are a bit beat up) so it's not as if we have to put the drapes there. There's just no other place for the drapes to go.

Please advise.

I think it would be fine and remember you maybe able to "cheat" and make the rod a bit further over the wood trim on one side to make it look more centered.

You want to center around the most prominent and proximate feature, which, in this case is the window. Center the table and the light around the window. What happens on either side of the window won't matter as it is already different...in width, in door placement. Strict symmetry is only for a very formal space, which this is not; or often an aid for novices who don't yet trust their eye to create balance through massing and scale. Go to houzz.com and look at some kitchens with tables...if you look closely, you'll see a lot that is far from perfect symmetry or balance, but it all works together. For example, this kitchen...the table is not centered on the island, the island lights are not centered relative to the table, but they are over the island... and the dining light is centered over the dining table....each is appropriate to its own space.

We completely redid an existing house and had to work w existing front upper window exterior that was in a weird spot. the lower ones couldnt be shifted more centered in room than what we did. you can see the ceiling drop in the pic and I am planning to move it a few inches to the left but not centered bt windows- to allow the table (96" normal length) and I planned to put a buffet (72" long under windows and slightly longer on right side to visualize space better. Opinion on that? Length of space from the left to right (to built in) is 15 1/2ft. but as you can see, if table enlarges, it will just overflow which is fine into open space. what do you think of the chandelier choices- would like to go w 9 light, but think 5 light is better sized for space...opinion on that? The picture is taken from the direction where there is a large island in kitchen area.

I'd just use a very simple roman shade that blends with your wall color. Then place a piece of art above the left side of the headboard. Drapes that need to be opened and closed aren't very functional behind a bed and dresser.

We have the same window setup with the wide trim in between, though did opt to center our sink. We went with pendants centered on the top sash of each window. (Hard to tell in the photo, but we don't have enough room over the window trim that sconces above the windows would have been an option; if your windows are lower and/or shorter, you could do those too.) I will say that we rarely use these lights. I really like them because they're on a dimmer and we sometimes turn them on late at night to have a low light on in the house before someone arrives home, but most of the time we use the general lighting for the space (three semi-flush mount schoolhouse fixtures on the ceiling) and don't bother turning them on.

Thank you everyone! I can't really cheat because even if I moved the drapes over slightly, everything is still on the right half of the wall. But it is good to know it isn't a problem.

Now, I need to decide if it is worth it. My pet peeve with these curtains and the ones that came with the dining room is that I have to dismantle the rods to get the curtains off to clean them. I can't just undo the finials and slide the curtains out. This, of course means that I don't end up cleaning them because it is is a pain.

I don't think the centered thing will be an issue at all.

And, as for ease of cleaning, I can't imagine they'd ever need a deep cleaning in bedroom. In a dining room or kitchen maybe, but not a bedroom. If you like the drapes, I say take em' with you. Moving costs can get so out of control that it seems silly not to reuse the items you already own, if you like them. If you have a good vacuum with an extension on it for upholstery, just hit em with that once a month or so to remove any dust build-up. I have linen pottery barn drapes in my living room that pillow to the floor - i vacuum the ends where they get dusty once a week and in the pleats where dust hides I only vacuum every few months - but that's about it. No dry cleaning routinely or anything. How often did you clean them before?
