When you feel a little better, I bet there is a little pup somewhere that would love to have a home with you.

Thank all of you for your kind words, it's been a little over 2 hours and I've cried so hard my head is pounding. She won't be sleeping with me tonight and this house is so quiet and empty right now. Charlie is staying close to me, we laid across the bed and he laid next to me and licked my hand, he knows. You have to adjust to their absence and it's terribly hard. She shared the last 15 and 1/2 years with us and it's a great loss. Thank you again.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We had to put down our sweet peke, Sasha, last November. We've since got another peke, Caesar. We love him but I still miss Sasha so much. I was never before so attached to a dog as I was to her.

Oh, Linda, I am so sorry. I grew up with my dad always telling me, "Now, Sis, you KNOW they don't live as long as we do..." I'm 58 and it still hurts when something happens to one of my furkids.

I can only imagine how quiet and lonely it's gonna be around your house. My sympathy to you and your family.

I am so sorry. I know how much it hurts to have a furbaby cross the Rainbow Bridge.

I'm so sorry you've lost Daisy. I have to believe Tater Tot was waiting to greet her as she crossed over.

You know, there's something to be said for the bond we form with our furbabies. Even though we know about the pain we will suffer when we lose them, we're still willing to endure it because the joy of loving them and being loved back is just so wonderful.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your baby Daisy. I have a Dachshund too. I don't know how they do it, but they have a special way of burrowing deep into your heart. I can't imagine a day without my Elvira. I know this probably won't help much, but only time will ease your sorrow.

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear.
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today, you're arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wished I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today you tend it with such care,
I want to reassure you that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house as you fumbled for your key,
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me."

You looked so very tired and then you sank into a chair,
I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you everyday
To say to you with certainity, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew
That in the stillness of that evening I was very close to you.

The day is over ... I smile and watch you yawning
and say, "Goodnight, sweet dreams, God bless,
I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide

I am sorry about Daisy. I hurts badly I know that. My heart aches for you!
Our beloved first Doxie girl we guess was about 19 when she left us. We got her and they told us she was "about 3 years old". We had her for 16 years, she was with us thru thick and thin and while our kids grew up. They leave us and I know its creates a huge hole in our lives!

I'm sorry. Losing a pet is so hard. Thinking of you and your family.

Adding my hearfelt sympathy and understanding. All of us who have and had furkids know the pain and loss you are feeling.

I don't usually read these posts because it brings back the feelings I experienced when I have lost my beloved pets and what I will have to face again with Loki, Lucy and Chloe. Just the thought of it brings me to tears.

My heart breaks for you. I have 2 cats and when they die I don't know how I will survive the loss. You poor heart is broken. I just spent the day at the animal shelter where I am a volunteer. There was a Golden Retriever who was just brought in and she was scared to death. She had just had puppies and they were taken away from her. She was so depressed. I spent most of the day with her head in my hands.
Animals are the most precious part of my life. You have to find comfort in knowing that you gave her a wonderful, happy, special life. She was one of the lucky dogs. It is so hard to love an animal and lose it. We are all thinking of you and send you hugs.

I am so sorry for your loss. Consider youselfs hugged,when I lost my Piper this last summer at nearly 14 I got the following 2 messages and thought I'd share with you. I don't know the author of the poem, it was not with the message as I saved it.

A Star Sign from your recently departed loved one...

I have used the star three times in my life, it had worked every time.
I used it when I lost both my parents and July 1996 when I lost my
Golden Retriever, Tammy. Part of the blood that flows through my veins
is Native American. What I'm about to tell you was told to me
many years ago by a wise old lady. I believe I must share it with
people who have lost their dog because I know of the great pain they are
going through. The following will not work if it is a false gesture on
your part. You must have loved your dog when he was alive and upon his
death you feel like your heart has been ripped from your body.
When a loved one passes they must take a long and lonely journey.
The following will tell you how to know if their journey was a success.
Go into the night , the first clear night in your area. Go to a spot
where there is no noise, to go. Close your eyes and think of all the
wonderful things that you and your dog did together, talk to your dog
as if he was right by your side, tears will flow like a giant
river---all at once you will feel a strange sensation, it will feel as
if your dog is sitting right by you. At this point open your eyes and
look to the sky. Look all over the sky but mostly in the North North
East portion. All at once you will see a blinking star,
it will be the brightest and warmest one in the whole sky, it will draw
your attention to it.
At that point close your eyes, then open them again. If you see that
star again you will know your dog has had a successful journey. This
star will stay in the same spot every night. It will stay there until
your grieving is over, then if will disappear never to be seen by you
again until you too have made a successful journey.
When you go to the bridge you will also put this star into the sky.
Look for the star, your dog is waiting to give you the sign.
