The first artwork "reads" as Asian-inspired to me; the second one reminds me of a Tuscan landscape and the third one is my favorite!

I like the first choice the best. It adds a touch of elegance to an otherwise somewhat masculine rustic room. The second one is definitely too country (and too much of what you'd expect) and the third choice is too casual for your majestic furniture.

And don't be afraid to be monochromatic. You have enough texture in the rustic table and vase and painting (I am assuming you are using a canvas) to keep it interesting. The room could use some more feminine details like wall mounted lanterns or your wall mounted sconces idea, or some tapered candles. I think it would look fantastic.

I like #1 also! Matting would be lovely on this piece! What a pretty house you're going to have!

I do have some Spanish-style blown glass cannisters, wine rack, candleholders, decorative plates, etc. behind the table on the countertop, greenery & some pottery & decorative things above the cabinets, etc. All in similar rustic style. It is masculine now that I read that and look again - I wouldn't have come up with that on my own but I do agree. I definitely have some (a whole garage full) decorative pieces laying around that I could try rotating in/out.

I just noticed I have 1 way out of scale, it's only 27x27. The framing would bulk that up quite a bit, and I have tons of things to add weight on either side.

I think you should consider multiple framed pieces, rather than one thing centered on the wall. One print in the middle with a sconce on either side has a more formal feel to it. If you have a bunch of interesting things that could go on either side, what about just doing a collection of all those things on the wall, and skipping the print all together?

What might be fun is to 'shop' the garage full of stuff, and try laying a grouping of them out on the floor, in about the amount of wall space you have.

Another thing that might be wonderful on that wall would be a tapestry or leather wall hanging. This site has a lot of cool stuff, just posting one here that I think is amazing:

I also don't think I saw any mention of a light over the table? Do you have a ceiling fixture there? That could make a difference as to what you put in the room, too.

I would love to see a brightly colored runner, something made out of mexican inspired fabrics, perhaps, on the table. I think it would bring color to the plain wood table, and also bring in some of the softness to counteract the masculine feel you think the space has now.

I was going to suggest looking at some Mexican serapes or rugs that you could place on that wall which tie in with the adjoining room's color theme. You could also incorporate some small wall shelves on either side of the wall hanging & place some copper items (maybe a small copper vase w/greenery in it?) or with some Mexican pottery..maybe copper sconces?

There is a flush mount light, since the wiring is not centered over the table. Long story having to do with our not-stellar builder. To center something I would have to deal with about 3.5' of cord.

Here's where my taste gets complex. And frustrating. And -- impossible. I love a lot of "Mexican" pieces - heavy pine furniture, rustic pottery, etc. but I do not love a true Mexican look - I don't care too much for the textile patterns, overall palette, etc. I actually used to have a flat weave rug that my MIL loomed hanging over the table, but it was too large for the space. One that's a more suitable size is on my perpetual shopping list. I've been looking for something I love for a very long time, and no luck yet.

I would love to have something other than a print there, prints are just "safe" for me - easy. I'm competent at hanging a print. I have all sorts of hangy things but I'm not competent when it comes to piecing together things that don't obviously "go," and I'm not very skilled when it comes to arranging things in space (spatial is not one of my higher intelligences!)

I just raided my storage room with a camera and got a VERY SMALL sampling of things to show my "taste." Do you see any of these things "going" together? Because I can't, and would need help here.

You seem to lean toward Asian inspired. I like the 2nd print, because it's got the blue in there and that is very unexpected with your color palate. I don't think it's too gingham country-ish.

If you went with your accessories, I'd take the sunburst thing and some stars...but then it's getting celestial-y. Back to the print, then, for me. What type of table linens will you use? That might be where you can bring in some other colors to break up the mono-tone of the earthy brown spectrum. Bring in the blues, in small, unexpected bits.

I like #1, but I would like to see a bit more deep red around :)

Asian really? I see it in the print. I don't care for Asian furniture too much, bamboo, vessels, etc. Maybe I just like a worldy palette! :*) I think I like *pieces* of so many different styles, that it makes it hard for me to bring them together in a way that isn't chaotic.

Maybe the answer is to keep looking! LOL

I have two sets of cushions, one is a darkish cream and the other was made for me out of the same fabric as the panels. Behind the table we have an island and a pair of counter-height stools that also have the cushions. My current placemats were also made, and I could have her make me another set of cushions out of that fabric too (will scan some of it and post). Placemats I change all the time, so I have a ton, mostly in my same earthtone palette. Napkins I usually double-up a deep cream and an olive green or rust orange, with hand-hammered/distressed copper napking rings. I don't have a runner. Tablecloths I have in deep rust orange, natural flax linen, and VINYL - but only use for large groups. We don't have kids yet so I enjoy being able to see the top of my table while I can. :)

I think you could put something there that comangles well with the rest of your house and the areas adjacent to this room. Sure you can have a Mexican or rustic furniture suite with an Asian inspired print depending on what else you are doing. To have all Mexican inspired, unless the rest of your house is, could be boring. Using elements all from one region or period is usually taking the best of all that is produced in an area and using it so that it is not a clone of something else. You can have what looks good and works well in your space.

Of course, I think "worldly" I think is a good term for it. Many of us have French, English, Oriental, Italian and plain old American ingenuity in my house. I think "worldly" speaks to your taking the elements you like best from each and knowing how to integrate it into what looks good, to make it "your" personal taste and space. It takes a bit of liking and rejecting and finally finding what you like that works. You can do it, I am sure, and it will be what you like.

Welllllll -- I think that a large landscape -- like the one you had pictured above would add a lot of color and texture to the space. And that image -- of the rustic landscape (Italian, Tuscan etc.) would work so well with your other elements AND the style of your table ......
