Would this one work with the pictures, if I change out the curtains?

I really like the bedding in the fourth picture, it ties well into your pictures.
You have a nice room, but what I dont like personally is the drapery fabric. The dark color is too jarring against the whiteness of the blinds and trim and takes the eye away from the bed, which should be your focal point.

I much prefer the second set. I think it balances the room and ties the bedding to the curtains.

roseabbey - maybe I should start over. What color of curtains/bedding do you think would work best. Do you think I could bring blue in with the pictures?

cooperbailey - thank you! I like that set too - the only thing with that bedding is that it is microsuede and I'm not sure if that is a fabric I will like.

Will blue work in here if I change the curtains? It is a lake bedroom but I really don't want sailboats or all out tropical. I'm really quite at a loss here, so I am open to all of your suggestions.

roseabbey - We must've been posting at the same time. I like blue, I wasn't sure if I had to only choose colors in my pictures, which are green, brown, and cream. Glad to know blue may work. Thank you!

Both of the blue sets look beatiful. Depending on the look and feel you want. The first one to me looks more tranquail and peaceful, while the second one is more dramatic looking. I think i prefer the first one myself now that I see it in the room. If your walls are going to be darker like in the second picture, I would do lighter drapes perhaps with a dark band on the bottom.

Your palm prints and carpet are so neutral that you are not confined to cream, brown or green. You can go with blue, coral or even the right yellow if it doesn't fight with China Doll. Sorry to complicate the decision, but what colors make you happy and/or peaceful? The color that makes you go "ahhh!, great to be home" is the one.

Would you consider not going with valances if you change your drapes? One of the appealing things in the inspiration photo is the calm, sleek, solid panels instead of chopped up effect of fuller valances. I know your windows are shorter but full length panels will work nicely. Dark chocolate may feel too heavy in the summer. Does the blue in the inspiration appeal? If not, the darkest I'd go is the mid-tone you posted yesterday.

I'd go with bedding that would allow lots of options to change its look with pillows. I'd get tired of too much drama or pattern and would opt for the first blue or one of the calmer browns or creams or coral. Then you can have more fun and versatility with shams and/or decorative pillows and bring in pattern with a throw, quilt or coverlet if you like the layered look.

roseabbey, I think BATL is keeping the existing lighter paint color also shown on the chip just under the first photo.

Can I ask you were you got your inspiration picture from I love it. I would also suggest not doing valances and doing all panels.

I agree...all full length curtain panels would be a richer look. I like the lamp in option #2, the bedding in #3 or the blue & brown combo is nice....

Your room has GREAT bones, your dark wood furniture is very stylish!

abundantblessings- (love the name!) I would defintely be open to adding all panels. I orginally bought all panels but when I hung them they really overwhelmed the room, but maybe a lighter color would work. If I went with the tan comforter, what color panels would work here?

I really like a color palette that has 3 colors but I don't really care for patterns very much. I think that is what draws me to my inspiration pic. I like a couple of neutral color with a pop of color. Would there be a way to add another color if I went with the tan comforter? I do like a layered look but I don't know how to achieve it unless it comes together in a package!

catmfamily- the picture is from Rate my Space ( I hope it is alright to post it) Type in blue and brown lyon toile bedding and it should come up under bedrooms. It just has that casual comfortable feeling I'm after. I don't want a formal look.

I don't want to throw another inspiration pic out there...but here are a couple more to look at...for fun, since you were worried about over whelming the room with brown curtains....and I like the first blue & brown set best! You are really gonna take this to the next level....WOW!

Ok, let's look at your lovely inspiration pix. If you like the pale blue drapes, try to find some similarly sleek panels. Blue is tranquil, looks great year round, and picks up the lake tones. While I like blue, I prefer a warmer tone in my master so I've gone in another direction, but you need to feel good in your room.

In the inspiration pix, they seem to have echoed the blue with a slightly greyer tone on two regular pillows and two shams. A muted toile adds more interest on the duvet. Two cream pillow cases add pop. A taupey matelasse picks up the carpet color and carries it to the bed. Easy enough to duplicate without a package!

I do like the first blue and chocolate package as well as most of the packages though I'm no as fond on the green/cream/chocolate or the last similar blue package. I'd just add a bit of punch with a fun pillow or two if you go the package route. Your current satin and all but one of the pictures you posted have a more tailored feeling than the inspiration photo. The textures stop them from feeling formal, but they are far more structured, so think about which look feels right to you and go for it.

Can't see if you have matching lamps and don't know if you really love the scrollwork. If not, maybe pick up lamps with a simpler line and large drum or rectangular shades if that appeals to you. If you want to keep your lamp(s), try a larger shade for more oomph.

Didn't see Nicole's post come in with the other pix until after I posted. Great looks in different directions, but both are tailored. Love the pop with the coral cashmere and the red drapes. Notice how the browns and greys are quiet neutrals and allow just 3 spots of related colors to sing. Color your world happy!

okay, now that I found a color combo to follow I found this bedding set on rate my space and fell in love with it. Problem is I can't find it! I'm gonna post another thread to see if anyone recognizes it. I did a quick photoshop of how I think you all think I should do the windows. I could go lighter on the panels but would you do white on top of white shutters? Thanks to everyone still hanging on to help me!
