Protecting home from curry odors

Lately I've become really interested in trying to cook Indian food at home. I'm in love with a couple of our local Indian restaurants, but it's not very often that I can find someone to go there with me. I've come across so many recipes that look delicious and very healthy. Other than the initial investment in extra spices, most of the ingredients are pretty cheap, and they can be kept in the pantry for a last-minute dinner.

So, what's my hesitation? The smell! The last time I put curry powder in anything, the odor hung around my house for days. Plus I've heard too many stories about curry odors that can't be removed (despite re-painting and removing carpet), houses that won't sell, and vastly depreciated home values.

Does anyone have any tips on how to cook Indian food at home, without permanently fragrancing my house, or am I better off just enjoying it on occasion in a restaraunt?
