Happy Friday!

I am glad this week is almost over. It has been one of those weeks again. In the last two weeks, we have been to either the Vet or the Animal Hospital 11 times. At least the 19 month old pup is finally showing some improvement. She still has a long way to go, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Today is errand day here. I only have about a million errands to run today. The rest of the weekend it is supposed to be raining and I am thrilled. It should give me the incentive to finish the drapes that I have been making. All that is left to do is the pinch-pleating. It wouldn't be time consuming except that there are three large windows that have to be dressed. That is a lot of pinch-pleats.

I am glad your pup is improving. Give her a snuggle for me. I am off with the kids to Westchester county for my brother's wedding. He is the last to get married, and at 48, I wasn't sure it was going to happen!
It will be a huge family party with lots of cousins.

Jo, have fun at the wedding. I'll be doing that in a couple of weeks. Hard to believe Erin's wedding is almost here already!

It is another beautiful day here, but I sure wish we would get some of the rain they keep promissing. It is so dry I feel like I am in the Sahara!

Have to work 1/2 day tomorrow, and going on a garden tour on Sunday.

Have to work in a trip to the hospital to visit my "step-dad", too.

Will clink a bit later.....I am sure I'll need a glass of wine by the end of the day.

Prof, this pea thing has me totally confused! I looked up each variety, and sure enough, the search showed Sugar Ann as a bush type, that does not need trellising, but may develop strings. The Super Sugar is listed at around 5', but is not supposed to have strings. The peas on my 6'+ vines definitely are not stringless, so I have no idea what is going on. I grew the regular Sugar Snap last year, and they never got taller than 3', and the pods were smaller than these, so I'm pretty sure it's not that one. Whatever they are, they're delicious! Nan6161, this is my second year to WS the Prism Sunshine petunia, and I just love them! I also WS Aladdin Orange, and they are starting to get buds on them, so I'll post pictures of them once they start blooming. Bonnie

I've never posted on a TGIF thread before but I played hookie today so I could have a nice 4 day weekend. My weekend started last night. I bought that 5 minute artisan bread book and made a batch of the dough for today. I have only made bread in a bread machine prior to this. It mixed up easily in the mixer. Today I pulled it out and touched dough for the first time ever. It was a sticky mess. LOL I couldn't get it round so I plopped it on the peel. Then I decided it was way too flat so I picked it up and kept adding flour trying to get it round. What an amusing experience. I had flour all over my slippers and the dog by the time I was done. It wound up being the height off a ciabatta in the middle. We ate it for lunch even though it looked a little silly. The good news is I have a bowl full of dough in the fridge to keep trying. Any tips? Today must be a day of firsts. I have never had chili before because I am not a big fan of beans and I have only recently started liking spicy foods. I just made the RR chicken chorizo chili and it is simmering away. I can't wait to taste it. Clinking with an amaretto on the rocks from sunny S Florida. I may have to hit the hot tub ater dinner. Don't worry, I will be thinking of you freezing people the whole time. :-> I remember what zero felt like. Brrrr!!!

B: 1 egg, 2 egg whites, deli salsa, grilled corn omelet, coffee S: coffee and a granola lemon bar (my friend was an HOUR late-grrrrr-so I got hungry and chose the most healthy thing I could find in the coffee shop case; what a waste of calories!) L: 1 cup cottage cheese mixed with finely diced tomatoes, green onions, cilantro, and spicy spices S: 10 pretzels D: Taco salad: 1/3 c refried beans, 1/8 c. shredded cheese, lot of shredded lettuce, tomato, ¼ c cottage cheese, salsa, 120 cal worth of baked chips on top. S: Arg. Lays Baked BBQ chips, 2 handfuls, and a ½ c of fritos. I hate having chips in the househate it! Salty snacks call to me. Do you guys get ticketed if you don't take care of the noxious weeds? I have some property up north and if I don't clear the Canadian Thistle every spring, the fines start! The county fines people a 100 or more dollars a day for noxious weed spread. Now that's motivation to do yard work, eh? Needless to say, I've never gotten fined. We're expected to have a hella wind storm tonight. Remember last year when we were out of power for days? They're saying this one won't be as bad. That was a 10 and this is supposed to be a 7. I'm bringing in wood today and getting the candle and flashlights ready. And we're all sleeping downstairs tonight. There are 200 foot trees next to my house and they DO fall occasionally! If I'm not on tomorrow, it'll be because I have no power! Short story: Yesterday, my DD in college called me. She says, "Mom, I have a problem..." Well, I am thinking the worst, but then she tells me that she's babysitting a friend's offspring and that the baby has been crying for 40 minutes. I can hear the baby on her shoulder crying its heart out. 10 minutes later, we finally got the baby quiet--air in tummy or overstimulated; I'm not sure. Dimly lit room and some pats on the back, pressure on the tummy, etc---but talking my DD through that baby's crying spell gave me the strangest feeling. Now I know how my mom felt when I called her with my colicy babies! It's tough not to BE there to help! Is Raeanne on her wine tour in CA already? And where's Maddie? Patti? Tikanas? JOHN???????? Halloween is almost here, so let's get motivated to step away from the candy. Anyway, have a great day and stay safe!

TGIF, everybody! Linda, ugh...wallpaper stripping. Good luck with that. Big job. Messy also. Keep focused on your vision for the finish & the fun of watching the new paint transform that room. Alexa, I'm so ready to spend time in the garden. Enjoy the hosta meeting. My early birds are just popping the ground. We've had good precipitation so I'm expecting some good growth this year, hoping anyway. Enjoy the confirmation party. We BBQ'd last night & have leftovers for dinner tonight. Housecleaning happening today. The BIG news here is that we got a conference call from our daughters last night. We'd been on pins & needles for a couple days wondering what was happening. I was just assuming it was a joint Happy BD a couple weeks early for DH. Nope, but it was about birthdays. BOTH of our daughters are pregnant!!! :)) DD#1 is due October 24. They've been trying for about 3 years. She's irregular & it just wasn't happening. She was at the doctor a week ago today & it's official. This will be her second child. DD#1 became pregnant when she was 15 & gave birth at 16 (our first grandson). DGS#1 is now 18 & just finished high school hoping to get into the USCG. Our daughter did not marry her son's father (thank goodness!). Anyway, she's married now to a great guy who wants this baby as badly as she does. We're delighted for them. DGS#1 also seem excited. DD#2 has been married about 7 years. She had a miscarriage a couple years ago. Then, about a year ago her husband lost his job. He was manager of several electronic stores. The entire company filed Chapter 11 late '09. He's not been able to find another job yet. :( Nevertheless, babies don't care about such things & we're all delighted. This is DD#2's first child. She's due September 10. So, we've got grandbabies #5 & #6 coming within six weeks of each other & in time for the Holiday season. This weekend, I want to go shopping for baby stuff! We've got a wonderful baby store here in town. I can hardly wait for DH to finish up some stuff he promised the law firm he's working with so we can go look for cuddly baby blankets, etc. This is a happy weekend in our house! TGIF! /tricia

Happy Weekend everyone!

Linda I'm so sorry you have had to visit the vet so often and hope that your pup is well on the mend. Our new kitty is also feeling better now and her stomach seems to have settled so I won't be calling our vet any more (I hope.) I used to sew drapes and know what a big job that is. Take care.

Jo I'm sure you will have a wonderful time. I love being present at my Canadian family gatherings as there are so many of us. Have fun!

Linda I wish I could join you on the garden tour. I did one last week and they are one of my favourite outings.

Well it's warm and sunny again here and we need rain but I guess we'll just have to keep turning on the sprinkler. I'm in day two of a strict diet and do miss my glass of wine with lunch!

So I'll say Happy Friday to everyone and clink with my glass of (sob) water.

Linda, I'm glad to hear the pup is doing better, hang in there. (Get it? Drapes? Hang in there? Oh never mind...)

The Other Linda: Only a couple of weeks? Are you ready? does the celebration have anything to do with Leopards? LOL Congratulations to Erin, her fiancee passed the CF test and we approve!

Jo, have a great time at the wedding. At least he's old enough to know what he wants, LOL. I just kind of shake my head when I see these 18 year olds wandering blindly and happily into marriage, and wish they'd get a couple of years under their belt first. Of course, I did the same thing at 18, so go figure.

Here we need rain. It's supposed to rain, but it doesn't. Like Doucanoe, I think I'm in the Sahara here. A couple of weeks ago we had flash floods, federal disaster areas, things were washing away. Now nothing. Nada. The pasture is too big to sprinkle.

So, it looks like I'll spend the weekend doing a rain dance, LOL. I want to pick some more sweet cherries, they're prolific this year and sweet and good. The apple trees need spraying, the garden needs tilling, I need to work on the duck pen so I can let the little ducks out of their coop. I need to walk the fenceline and make sure that rental bull stays right where he belongs, with my two redheaded ladies. And I want to bake Jojoco's summer torte, maybe Sunday if I pick cherries again tomorrow.

Elery is on his 12 hour weekend shifts, so he won't be back here until Sunday evening, I'm on my own. Oh, and the pool needs cleaning too!

TGIF for sure...been on the road all week..good to be home. I need to catch up here ... hope to do so over the weekend.

Linda, hope the pup continues to get better.

Jo, have a great time with the family at the wedding! My favorite part is the cake....okay the dancing too.

Linda, hope you get some rain and that all is cool with your Stepdad.

Annie, I'll do the rain dance with you if it helps. Sorry to hear that Elery has to work all weekend. You need a pool boy or one of those automatic cleaners.

Sharon, hope that new kitty is doing well and putting on some weight.

My DN is spending the night tonight with a friend of hers while their parents go to the Rocklahomla concert. I'll be there tomorrow night with my group. It's a four day concert featuring all the big hair bands from the eighties. We will pretend to be young rockers again..lol That's it for me other than chillin' by the pool and normal chores.
