Clinking with my Lady Gray as I take a break from hanging clothes & airing blankets & quilts on the line-- yipee-- no more dryer-- it's sunny & warm-- suppose to go to 64 today.

Got homemade sauerkraut & homemade Polish sausage thawing for tonight's meal-- I may break down & make some Chubby Hubbies-- The Marine just left for his 3rd tour in desert country so it's time for care packages agin. GD Lisa said he missed Ava's first steps by 2 days-- bummer !

Nothing much going on here this weekend-- we may head to camp to do Spring cleaning/opening etc if DH doesn't have to work tomorrow. Oh -- one biggie--DIL Tracy is due anyday now-- will propably be the last GC we have ( only unmarried kid doesn't seem interested-- even @ 40 )-- will make 18 living GKids all told.

Wow Diane, that's quite a brood of GKids. Fun!
We are having the same beautiful weather, I've been inspired to do some spring cleaning this week and plan on working outside later today.

No big plans this weekend, just want to get out and enjoy!

Great day here too, but unlike you two I'm not inspired to do some Spring cleaning, I'm inspired to go out and play!

Tomorrow a different story, we have to deal with some yard stuff before we go away so it will be an outside work day. Tomorrow night is our friends daughters 30th birthday so we are off to that. Haven't a clue what to get her, it has me stumped.

Sunday I head out of town to baby sit my niece for a week while they are somewhere warmer than here. I love her dearly but wish I hadn't committed because I have way too much to do here in preparation of pour 5 weeks away....but we'll have fun and hopefully set some good memories.

Diane, may God Bless your GS and keep him safe and wishes for a speedy and uneventful birth for your DIL.

I owned two as a kid but they don't fit into my lifestyle anymore. :( Have fun & glad DH is doing so well! Annie, I guess it's pot roast weekend on the CF. I've got one stovetop (chuck) now in my LC...smells heavenly. I forced myself to let it sear a full 15 minutes & I got wonderful color & flavor. Usually, I'm impatient & it only gets half that amount of time. shaun, happy birthday to your daughter! amck, we lived in Bedford. I was in Loudon a couple months ago. My DS lived in Exeter within sight of Mustangs' family (near the little triangular park). Small world, huh? Lyra, I'm glad you're getting the OT. Very uncertain times. Not sure about the RK though! lol Cathy, the parades sound like fun. I'd probably like the kid's parade the best! lol Enjoy the festivities & visit with your family. I'm not sure what we're doing this weekend. DH is, as I'm typing, stuck in a dentist chair upstate NY. He was out of town & got a toothache. Turns out he needs a root canal & a dentist squeezed him in at 3 p.m. this afternoon. Not sure if he's going to feel like making the drive to Mystic tonight. I've got a pot roast cooking...better make some smashed potatoes in case DH does decide to make the drive & can't chew! I also made a fresh blackberry pie this morning before I knew about his tooth...wonder if he can manage the seeds? If not, I'm going to be stuffed! We got the last of the new window blinds installed Wednesday & had planned on rearranging furniture this weekend. I'm just staying loose until I hear how DH's doing. Hopefully, as soon as they get it drained his pain will go away! Have a great weekend everybody! /tricia

Congratulations! My neighbor just had a new baby Wednesday and my niece is expecting in June - babies are a poppin! This will be the first "great" grandchild on my side of the family - there are 5 on hubby's side already. My mom is the only grandparent left and she's very excited about being a great grandmother. My neice and my two kids are the only grandchildren on my side of the family as well, so this is a treat. My kids aren't even close to settling down so this will be the only baby for a while!! Spring is a wonderful time to have a baby as well! Enjoy her! I'm going to try to get a little done in the yard tomorrow if the weather cooperates. It's still too cold to get anything done besides cleaning up leaves and stuff, but that has to be done as well. I'm making a huge new veggie bed this year so I have to get going and get as much done as I can, when I can! I might have bitten off more than I can chew with all the seeds I have going, but I guess I'll soon find out! My girlfriend is coming over tomorrow night to fix some jewelry - I have lots of bits and bobs for jewelry making. I want to make some bread in the morning, get some done in the yard, then get back in the house to make dinner for when she comes over. I made some home made mushroom ravioli at Christmastime and I've yet to actually have any. That's what I plan on having for dinner. It's going to pour out Sunday, so I'll probably work on the scrapbook my SIL asked me to do up for my niece's baby shower. I've never worked on one before, but it's coming out nice considering I'm just fumbling my way thru! It's amazing the stuff they have for that now - I ended up buying a couple books and plan on re-doing the books I made for my own kids who are now 21 and 19! I just had photo albums stuffed with all their baby stuff. They have so many cute things now, even tho they're adults I still want to re-do them just to have for myself! Lisa

David - have a great time with your group! Sorry about the Sooners and sorry about Sam Bradford. Hope the shoulder heals quickly. Claire, happy gardening! I have daylilies and hostas to move too, but I am waiting until it cools off here a little first. We are finally getting warm summery weather this weekend LOL! Sharon, I am so jealous of your being able to spend the fall at the cottage after the summer people are gonw. That was always my favorite time of year in Ogunquit - saying goodbye to the tourists! Enjoy your time and Clive bcskye, sounds like a blast! What sort of horse show is it? I used to ride hunters (and a few jumpers) back in the day, but I love all sorts of equestrian competitions. Have a great time with the family too. Linda, OGM! 1200?!?!?!? There are going to be some happy pooches and you are a dear for the labor of love. Katie - sounds like a wonderful way to spend the weekend. As David says - dance like no one is watching! Annie, glad to hear those beanies are going to good use. And happy canning! I can't wait to start my next project, I just have to find a little time. Dedtired - enjoy the Cape - as I mentioned before, fall is the BEST time to go anyplace touristy - the crowds have thinned. Lyra - Good luck with the projuect. I know how that goes, seems I can always find something else to do rather than what really needs to be done. Somehow it all does get dome though - an enjoy your time off, you deserve it! I had my second jewelry class on Friday - I just love it. Working on a multi metal (copper and brass) pendant to learn my skills. I will post photos as I complete projects. Fri night was out with friends for Happy Hour, yesterday was relaxing at home and getting totally caught up on Mad Men. I am TOTALLY addicted to that show now! Today we are having another couple over for a BBQ - sometimes it is nice not to have a gang and just sit and enjoy a quiet evening with grown up conversation. Tomorrow we are thinking about going to the NJ shore (I am cringing at the thought, I don't care for the shore) so we'll see. Maybe I will send the men folk off and have a canning day to myself. I go all over the board. I think I'm most comfortable with nine inch, have done some twelve inch, and also ten inch. I cannot find a ten inch template and wonder, is this an unusual size? It's either got to be that or so common, ten inch templates are always sold out. The smallest I am comfortable with are six inch blocks and I have yet to make a full sized quilt using them. I think one is on the horizon, however. I translated a nine inch pattern into a twelve inch block for one Queen sized quilt. It turned out nicely, but I think it lost a little in the translation. It carries off fine on a large bed, but I think the design would get lost on a twin sized bed. I do have one top, my Eye of God quilt, finished in sixteen inch blocks. The design is pretty intricate, however, and they don't look overwhelming.

Happy Friday to you Nancy and Diane. Wow is right....that's a lot of Gkids! Nice to think you will always have plenty of company Diane.

No spring cleaning here but we will be having some roof repairs and leaky ceilings repaired in the next couple of weeks and then I guess I'll have to clean up the mess after when they scrape off the old paint on the ceiling of my computer room, where the rain came in.

Beautiful sunny weather here also today so after my morning Pilates class followed by a large grocery shopping, we sat out on the terrace for lunch and were serenaded by many blackbirds flying around and singing in the trees. They are practically tame now as I feed them every morning and they have lost all fear of us sitting near them.

Just going in the living room for coffee as my hubby likes to play butler after I've cooked dinner and washed up.
He brings my little espresso on a tray while I sit with my feet up! So clinking with that....

Diane, 18 grand kids? Wow, I have my hands full with two of them, LOL. I'll be keeping that Marine of yours in my prayers, that he comes back safe and sound and that DIL's pregnancy goes well and uneventfully.

Here? I'm fixing fence. Again. Elery and I fixed fence on Saturday, again on Monday. Horses need to be groomed, post holes need to be dug, manure....um....fertilizer needs to be spread on the garden and tilled in. Pens need to be cleaned and my yard needs raking and, well, it's spring.

65 and sunny tomorrow, so I'll work outside all day. 50 and rain on Sunday, so I'll bake a coffee cake and start some cinnamon rolls, Administrative Professional's Day is Wednesday, I'm taking breakfast for my office staff on Tuesday morning because Wednesday Elery and I are going to visit his Dad and stepmom in Ohio. She's back in the hospital, she's never really recovered from that heart surgery last year. I feel horrible for his Dad, Elery's Mom died three years ago, his Dad married Francis and now she's so ill. Sigh.

Anyway, TGIF, I have lots to do this weekend and only two weeks until we meet Chase in Grand Rapids for supper! Hooray!!

Don't know yet. Working a 10 hour shift on Saturday. Won't be surprised if Sunday gets added. Somebody somewhere is making lots of little diesel trucks and I can't make parts for them fast enough. Had to go to the city for court case Tuesday (we won!) and I stopped at a meat market locally famous for great deals. About 20 miles from my home so I don't normally shop there. Some huge chunks of cow for me to cook up!... $2.09/lb for lean rump roast.

Tired from poor sleep. I have lots of vacation time and some paid time off but can't use it because I'm so far behind at work. At least the court case and taxes fell off my to-do list this week.... 1000 miles to go and I can rest for a minute.

Annie, don't you ever run out of energy? LOL Have a safe trip to Ohio, I hope Francis gets out of the hospital soon and feels much better.

Lyra, must be something in the water in Michigan. Between you and Annie I get tired just reading about your hectic schedules! Hope you get a breather soon!

The spring weather has finally arrived here in MN. I have spent at least a part of the last 5 days doing garden-related stuff and I'm lovin' it!

I think I may have a new job. It has been offered, but I have not accepted. It is in the insurance business and for some reason I am really nervous to make the call to take it. But I think there it has tremendous potential, plus I could work from home and set my own hours/schedule. I'll keep you all posted.

Happy Friday! I am working 3:30-8pm at the hospital and then I'll be celebrating with a glass of Pinot Noir, I guarantee it! LOL

Found a moment to check in. Haven't been around as much this past week with a lot going on. From the posts above, sounds like everyone else is as busy.

DS is coming home from Denmark tomorrow for a weeklong visit. He has not been back to New England in springtime for 7 years. His BD is next week, so it will be nice to celebrate with him.

His visit was prompted by the birth of our first GC, his first niece. He and DD (our only kids) are 3 yrs. apart and have always been close. I knew he couldn't hold out too long before coming to see baby Priscilla in person.

DH planned for some vacation time, so we'll likely be at the lakehouse next week. Hoping for some of the good weather we've had these past couple days.

TGIF everyone! We're looking forward to mid-70s by Monday. Hopefully it'll make a big dent in the snow piles.

Today was my day off. It was wet and cool so we went grocery shopping. Tomorrow is work, but I get off early. If it's nice I'm walking the DH....this is the first weekend we haven't had slushy, slippery roads and he needs to get out and work his leg. Sunday we need to get out and clean up winter damage. We're going to take advantage of a program to reduce fire danger and let some strapping young, healthy men with chainsaws 'park out' a 100 ft. radius around our house. And....the best part...for my birthday, I get PJ, an award winning landscaper. I ask for him every year. DH always laughs, but this year he is trading a custom kitchen....I get to turn PJ loose on my rock flower beds and terraces that were beautiful 20 years ago and have been taken over by thimbleberries and destroyed by snowplows. AND the kid may be moving into her own place. I'm so excited.....

Lyra, I know all about having vacation time and not having time to take it. Trust me....it affects your health. Try and find a way, even if it's a day here and there.

TGIF!!

Tonight was a BD dinner for DS. This one was for the kids...us older kids are going to the casino for dinner tomorrow night and some time gaming. They have free rooms for the night but I don't think I'll be staying for the night.

I'm getting ready to do some painting so I'll be prepping for that and may get started painting by Sunday. Add some yard work, normal chores, and that sums it up for me.

Great to see this thread back up and alive again.
