Beautiful sunny morning here and it's suppose to be a lovely weekend. We are heading up to the cottage this AM. Looking forward to some hooking, reading and cooking...oh yeah and eating!

Two things I've been posting about lately will soon be ending - in case you're weary of reading about them..

1. UNH Hockey - We are in the quarter-finals of the Hockey East Championship with home ice. This weekend we play Boston College. It's a 2 out of 3 series beginning tonight. Hope we can wrap it up by tomorrow and not go into a Sunday game because------

2. Sunday, the 15th, is DD's due date!

So, who knows what this weekend could bring!!

The guys have a half day today, so we are going to get haircuts and new sneakers this afternoon. Hopefully, a friend form Maine is coming for the weekend and will arrive around dinner time, so who knows what the rest of the weekend will bring, but you can be sure it will involve at least one hungover morning LOL!

I'm busy getting ready for an Israel 9th grade exchange student to stay with us for 10 days. Luckily he is a picky eater, grin, that validates me as a mom heh heh because it shows I'm not the only one who has to deal with that. He has been corresponding with my kid for a few months now.

Saturday I'm helping a friend shop for a synagogue carnival - lunch supplies - Sunday I'm working the Carnival. Oy. Obligations. And of course the Basil Wrathbone Cookalong.

Nancy, I'm so glad you and Kim are having an awesome time! And you can't beat 99 percent great weather! Roxie misses you too, but she is living a pretty comfy existence here. She thumbed her nose at her dog bed and decided the king size 'people bed' looked much more enticing! I'll miss my feet warmer when she goes home! Have a great last day in Myrtle Beach. Good ole' Michigan will be here in all it's glory and awating your return.

We don't have anything as fun as visitors, hockey games or cottage trips planned. We were out of town for a long weekend last week volunteering at a competitive trail ride (horses) so we're home this weekend.

It's supposed to rain most of the weekend, so if we can fit in some work in the yard and some riding we'll be happy, but we may just be indoors watching the weeds grow!

As for us, I have obedience class this afternoon with the oldest pup. No plans for this evening, but Sat. and Sun. there are two Home and Garden Shows in our area that we hope to get to. We are in the beginning planning stages of a kitchen expansion and a redo of our screened in patio.

Grace, I would be happy as heck if I could do some yard work this weekend. But a blanket of snow and ice prevents that for now!

Linda, Have fun at the H&G shows. we went to the big one in Minneapolis last weekend. Got lots of ideas for projects to add to our "list"! LOL

As for us, we ar going out with friends tonight. The weekend is supposed to warm up and maybe some of this snow will melt. Just going to try to gt some stuff done around the house the rest of the weekend. I took a class last night to learn to use precious metal clay, so I might play around with that a bit too.

Nancy, I'm glad you're having a good time, and it's supposed to be 50 on Sunday and only in the 30s at night next week, above freezing for 24 hours at a time, you must be bringing spring back home with you.

Grace, i'd like a trail ride about now. The horses are muddy and dirty and just starting to shed winter coats, it would take longer to clean them up for riding than the ride would take!

Jessica, we had foreign exchange students from Brazil and from Germany. The girls from Germany gained weight here, LOL, they learned about grilled cheese sandwiches. Juliana was from Brazil and she was picky. Very, very picky, so it's not just our kids. And since I'm pretty picky, it's not just me either! Have fun.

It's a busy week and and busy weekend! Our littler grandson, Mason, is 2 today! Party tomorrow at 5 with 27 people. What happened to parties from 1-3 with cake and ice cream? I'm helping DD cook! Last week I tasted Fannie Farmer's 1946 recipe for Mac & Cheese and thought it was amazing! So I'll be making some pans along with supplements from Costco. Working today and then over to DD's for some birthday kisses!
Yesterday was a blast, a friend was having a birthday and her hubby decided that the 4 of us should go to Disneyland! The birthday girl gets in free and the rest of us got some pass where we can come back w/in 30 days for only $25. It was my first visit in probably 15 years. I even enjoyed Space Mountain! LOL!
I've wanted to go with the grands so badly, but never felt I could keep up physically. I now know that I can and I feel pretty darn good today! I only have to find the time to calendar a day or an overnight visit!

Oh, the list list is getting long so won't post individual comments. You guys are definitely having more fun than I will be.

We'll be burning all the scrap wood from the junker mobile home we FINALLY tore apart. The trash dumpster came and went this week. Now we have the wood and the metal to deal with...fun....NOT.
And it's 'yucky'. I wouldn't even want to make foil dinner packets and cook in the fire.
Oh well, it'll be good to have it gone and our view improved!

Sharon, I was at the river cottage (my brother's) last weekend, picking oranges, cleaning, fishing, boating, cleaning, cooking, did I mention Cleaning? I'm sure your cottage is much cleaner that my brothers.

Amck, From one New England Clam Digger to another GO 'CATS!! Either way, that new baby makes you a winner.

Alexa, I don't know about you, but I love hair cut day with Beau.

Jessie, Holy mackerel (what is a holy mackerel?), all sounds interesting but take a breather.

Grace, Weeds have taken over my yard, what's really bad about that is I hate yard work. The yard man said I have weeds that will only go away but pulling them. I only have a 1/2 acre, but that's a lotta' pulling. Maybe your horses would like to graze here for a week??

Linda, I went to our H&G show last week (touted as the largest in the South??) well it was said, half the vendors as usual and not many visitors.

Annie, I'm with you and will be waiting for pictures.

Ellen, I know I don't have to tell you that taking those babies to Disney will energize you. We arrived when the gates opened, left when they close and I still was hyped!

For me, I'll be looking for excuses to avoid the yard work. Maybe I'll make Doris' Peach, Orange, Habanero jam. I've been to 4 stores looking for peaches.

Cathy, it's not "Yard Work"...it's "GARDENING"! lol

Don's on his way home now...probably about at Old Saybrook (30-40 minutes away). I'm making breakfast for dinner because it's easy to fix quickly when he gets in rather than trying to time something for an unknown arrival.

Tomorrow, we have an appointment with a REALTOR (why do they capitalize all of the letters?) to look at a house on Beebe Pond overlooking the Mystic River. We've been looking since Feb. '07 & this is at least the 20th house he's shown us. We are soooo pickey!

Also, this is a sad weekend. We are boatless in Mystic. As unbelievable as it sounds considering the economy this guy from CA wanted to buy our Nordic Tug. So, we sold it to him. We wintered her in Annapolis, he saw her, & fell in love. The Homeland Security documents cleared last Friday & escrow closed this Tuesday. She's on her way right now to CA...overland. It's costing him a small fortune 'cause her beam exceeds legal limits, without special permits. Crazy, we would have run her through the Canal. Maybe, he's afraid of such a long trip being a new captain? So, we've got a garage full of "boat stuff" to do something with. :( Please help me say, "Good-bye", to her.

Aw Tricia, I always wondered what your boat looked like. I'm a boater too so I understand how you might feel. You should be happy that it went to someone who wanted it enough to haul it all the way across the country! You know he will take care of it and love it. I was heart broken when I found out that the guy that I sold my first boat to let it sink. I almost cried. You won't have that issue, I can tell :-> And now you can shop for your next boat. Woo-hoo!

I'm getting ready to clink to all y'all with a crown. I'm babysitting my DN and her friends tonight....a trade off for my sis watching Lucy next Tuesday night for me. Oh man, these girls are a handfull for sure...lol! I HOPE they go to sleep with a movie...I have my computer back for a few minutes while they are in the tub for now.

Going to the home and garden show tomorrow to check things out and get some direction on a few things I'd like to do to the house this year. My plans have been scaled back some due to various reasons. Going out with friends tomorrow night to enjoy a band that my group enjoys...they took a couple of months off. Sunday will be normal chores and maybe a little work out in the yard if it warms up some.

Okay, got side tracked here and just learned a bunch of things my cable remote can do....by second and third graders!! LOL!!

Tricia, that's a Nordic Tug? All this time I was picturing a big ole wood tug boat like Tuffy in the child's picture books! LOL! Does this mean you will buy another? It seems like boating/fishing is such an integral part of your social lives!
