Goodbye Miele W4842, Hello Electrolux Wave Touch
Comments (22)Larsi, today we went to set up return for Electrolux washer that was having problems. The guy at appliance who sold it to us said that we needed to call Electrolux, tell them the prob and ask for a R.C.M number, then call him with it and he will order me another one, so that they can get refunded from Electrolux. Electrolux wanted to send out a service repair. I told them that i didn't trust this machine due to the rubbing and had called the authorized repair man, told him the prob and he said he would ask for a new one, as this could be seal or tub or both. He said he wouldnt keep one that was bad from day one. So after Electrolux figured out i wasnt going the repair route, they told me to call the store and tell them they had a seven day return policy. Told her it was delevered last thurs.and that store was passing buck to them. Electrolux got the store on the phone, told them i said no repair and then electrolux said the 7 day return policy for a electrolux did not start until unit was delivered, not from purchase date! Store said it would get with their RCM people and that electrolux may give them some credit for it. I am not sure they will get full credit. Anyway, i should hear from store tomorrow to tell me that they have ordered me another set as the dryer was dammaged and they did not check it over before delivery. I don't think that it was my place to have to do all the leg work. It should have been store, but salseman said if i called that it would carry more weight. I think that he knew that i would be told to have it repaired and he just didn't want to tell us that. I will rest easier when they call tomorrow with a time line of when new set is in. They will reverse the dryer door as they didn't do it with this one even though i asked for it, but my DH was going to do it anyway. Fingers crossed i get a good set, no scratches, dents, or detergent tray that does not hang on the front corner which this one does. THEN, i will be in laundry heaven!!!!...See Moretop loader questions
Comments (41)HI Sapphire, I did not look at the Speed Queen Frontloader. I am no expert on the differences between the Wave-Touch and the IQ-Touch. Electrolux has one Wave (the 70) and three IQ (models 50, 55, 60). You can see differences on their website by clicking on the four machines in white, and comparing them. I believe that you can also see the manuals for each by clicking on the individual model. The list price increases by $100 for each of the IQ models and then by $150 for the Wave. These links (from people much more astute than I am) each offer something different to consider, and are helpful; most are from GW Laundry Forum. The list is not exhaustive, but a good place to start. I don't know if or how you can post more than one link, so I have put them here (roughly in reverse date order) with the initial title and the dates the threads were active. If you find any others, please let me know! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwCGQjITeVE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnC9s7t3HOA A You Tube explanation from a store sales rep, and his amendment from Jan and Feb 2012. http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/laundry/msg0801511930778.html existing owners of elux washer/dryer iq touch and wave touch... There was also something intersting on eHow on 'How to Self-Clean an Electrolux Washer Basin.' http://www.ehow.com/how_7897655_selfclean-electrolux-washer-basin.html Finally, a worthwhile reminder from Richard last month on something I never thought about: using a surge protector: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/laundry/msg0419444124107.html?2. I saw four more threads on that topic when I searched for 'Surge Protectors and GW Laundry Forum. I haven't had a chance to read these yet. Hope that this is helpful. Comments (18)I have a GE front loader GFWN1100LWW 10 wash cycles, 1000 RPM Spin and used to have a Maytag Bravos. I can say that the GE front loader is much, much better (for me) and back to the good old days of hardly any wrinkles as with my old agitator Maytag before the big switch. I'm enjoying this machine and the matching dryer very much. It's not expensive I think I have seen it advertised anywhere from $538 on sale to $700 for each. What I have learned is that big is not better nor is top speed spin necessary. This one has a bit of a smaller tub 3.5 which helps with it not going out of balance and the top speed spin is lower than the top speed (1300 RPM) of the higher priced models. That helps it from setting in wrinkles so firmly. It's very quiet and I love that, too. I was more or less a brand snob before but I really love this pair and wish I wouldn't have wasted my time, energy and money on the way more expensive first pair that I got and sold 2 years later to get this much better set (IMO). Comments (22)OK I spent about 6 hours or so researching the "Latest" info (reviews, problems etc) on these ovens, Let's start out with Bosch. Bosch. Many reviews out there, AJMadison, Chowhound,Retrievo etc etc. In this case I looked at Reviews by Consumer Reports readers that bothered to fill in the surveys that CR sends out. There were 13 reviews, of the 13, 4 complained about uneven heating in the ovens.I mention this because of rhomes experience with her GE ovens, but this is only info for one model Bosch oven so be SURE to look for reviews on the model you are interested in! Here's the link http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/appliances/kitchen-appliances/cooktops-wall-ovens/wall-oven-ratings/models/user-reviews/bosch-hbl5450uc-99019387.htm#readReview Miele Ovens To be honest, one really has to hunt to find any "Newer information" on the "alledged temp problem" It used to be "easy to find", Retrievo, Chow Hound, FIxit, Just Answer, etc etc. Here is the "Latest" "On the Miele: Broiler seems underpowered at 2000 Watts, but they claim it's "infrared" (doesn't look infrared so I don't know), but it's also a 12-pass broiler vs. Wolf's 3800W 8-pass). Read complaints of oven not reaching set temp, but talked to Miele, they acknowledge and say problem is fixed. Oven light is either on or off while you cook - no button. Timer maxes at 99 min 59 seconds." Here is the link for that: http://cookaholics.org/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2547 If that is the case, don't you think it would be nice of Miele to at least get hold of the owners who have complained about temp problems and notify them of the fix, Even if Miele is not willing to pay for the fix? I know Baver and Larsi, just gave up, and there is NO BIGGER FAN of Miele than Larsi, (at least that I know of), anyway read the link and decide for yourselves, (I'm taking a chance just posting this as I will probably have to make a "Fast Getaway from two of our favourite women, here in Garden Web, (both with great Miele ovens)! OK Last, but not least, Gaggenau Ovens. Hard to find reviews for the ovens, of the ones I found most are positive, but--- I did find one where the user has complained about chipping porcelain and a lack of response from Gaggenau, I put this here for rhone. (see the link below). http://hellopeter.com/gaggenau/complaints/bad-quality-and-pathetic-non-existent-service-873959 Now , to be honest, I really had to hunt for that one and it is only one oven but as I mentioned their is a dearth of info regarding Gaggenau ovens in general. I'm not a big fan of the Gaggenau due mainly to price and their 40% price increase in just one year, (about 3 years ago now, as I recall). Another thing that bothers me, is when you look up a part for a Bosch or Thermador oven, (Example Bake Element), that same part is used in the Gaggenau oven, so one wonders?? What am I paying all the extra Money for, Name, fit & finish, some "Untouchable/intangible Asset"?? Now don't take my word for this, Here is a link that shows the parts: http://www.reliableparts.com/product/Element-Bosch-Bake-1477152/Bosch-Oven-Range-Parts-461422 Now I will be the first to congradulate rhome, should the Gaggenau oven be all she needs it to be, nobody deserves it more than her, and I only offer the above in the interest of "Full Disclosure" as well as her best interest. I hope she can find a "Deal" on one. That's All Folks!!! Gary...See Moresilvercanadian
