A somewhat odd photo request -- night shots!

I was wondering if anyone had photos of a soft, gray-blue paint color (I'm thinking of BM gentle gray, for reference) on their walls at night, under artificial light?

Here's my deal: I've always been drawn to warm colors up until a year or so ago, when I started to find them a little oppressive and started admiring photos of light, airy cool tones. I LOVE gray blues in rooms with bright sunlight. However, this will be for a bedroom and will primarily be used at night, and I'm afraid a gray-blue under artificial light will feel cold and unwelcoming.

I'd appreciate any photos and/or insight from people with pale blue rooms -- can they still feel soothing under artificial light? (Or perhaps it depends on what type of artificial light I'm using?)

Hi!

I have some pics of my gray/blue bedroom taken at night attached. My gray/blue is probably darker than the color that you have in mind, but it should answer the questions that you have about light. I just decorated this room and love it, it doesn't feel cold to me.

Antiquesilver: You picked a " Purdy " ??? You do have good taste. I laughed too, for awhile. Dcarch: Yes I do know metal working. I had a Lathe of my own. Sold it to a friend down the road. And I made Molds for odd shaped Ceramic pieces, when I was 15 yrs. old, for a Ceramic Studio. That gave me some insight for Bronze Casting. The Barrel was a seamless steam pipe, fitted with a 45 Cal. liner. It was made Octagon on a Bridgeport. The fancy brass piece behind the Barrel Tang, was cut from a scrap brass bathtub trap, as were some other brass parts. The Patch Box was from flat brass stock. The last Thimbleholder? that is embeded into the Forestock, is made from a 50 Cal. Brass Casing. The enhanced Photo looks great , thanks. Starlight: I'm Retired now and I might have my tools Gold Plated. LOL

Great photos all! Bella, those are beautiful! You guys have an incredible portfolio going! We've got a plan for some (hopefully) nice nighttime lighting around our pool, but it's looking like it'll be at least a couple of months before we can contribute any photos to this thread :-p

Hey, thanks! I was the one who asked. I was away over the weekend and decided to dig around tonight to see what I could see. Your room is just gorgeous....very French. I just love blue and orange together and all variations on that theme. Your Teacup and Maize (which is what I will call it for now) are fantastic together. And good for you for thinking outside the box on leaving the shelves natural. I agree it works. Most would have felt compelled to follow the rules. ;-)

The ZDs on our fence (3' high) go out on either side about 6 feet. Two that are on the deck go stright up 6' or so then spread out the same. So I'd say you get about 12 feet coverage. However, I'd use two per side on the 12' side of you dog run. Make sure you direct the canes where you want them to go while they are growing. They loose their flexibility very quick so tie them as they grow, don't wait until you get a long cane. You get no flowers on vertical growth so take that into account. That's about the limit of my rose knowledge so I'll let the others take over from here.

Here is SW Misty, the darker grey is 2 shades down on the same card, sorry I dont remember the name. I think it was comfort grey but not very sure.

vcheethi, I love Misty! I strongly considered it for a bathroom before deciding to go in a different direction.

Here is Valspar's Nimbus Cloud at night with an incandescent bulb in the floor lamp and a compact fluorescent in the white table lamp.

Under incandescent it looks warmer than under the fluorescent.

I went into this room tonight to take this photo and wanted to stay! It felt very welcoming to me. EK's Gustavian Grey.

palimpsest, I think you're right. Would definitely need to use incandescents if I do this.

sis3, I love that room! The wall color, the decor, the shutters ... I'm really getting tempted now. :) Are EK's paints available online? I'm not sure how I'd get them otherwise. I live in California.

If you have an ICI paint store near you you have access to Ellen's paints. You simply order from Ellen, who faxes the formula to your local ICI/Dulux store then you pick the paint up from there (mine has always been ready for pickup within an hour or so of ordering from EK!)

The effect of full spectrum paints is difficult to describe, it is just beautiful IMO!
