Hamilton Beach FlexBrew coffee maker

Does anyone on this board own the newest model of the Hamilton Beach FlexBrew coffeemaker? If you do have one (or even the older model) would you mind giving your opinion on ease of use, quality of product, and quality/taste of the coffee it produces. Thinking about getting one but the Amazon reviews are all over the place. Thank you.

There's one sitting on my kitchen counter as I type.

I mostly use the single-serve side. It comes with a little pod that you can fill with your own coffee, or you can use a K-cup. Cleaning the little pod is the thing I like least about using it, but it really isn't too bad. I just hate dealing with coffee grounds in general.

It took a few trials with the pod to figure out how much coffee to put in to get the strength I like, but after that, it has been smooth sailing. I did have to have the instruction booklet handy the first several times I used the single-serve side, as you have to use the pod, plus put the pod into the K-cup holder, and then put all of that into the coffee maker. Not something to try for the first time if you are in a rush in the morning.

There's an adjustable stand on the single-serve side that's a bit finicky to use. You need it if you aren't using a tall travel mug. Sometimes I get fed up with it and just put the mug on the base of the unit. A couple of drops of coffee might splash out as it drips, but that's about it.

I've only used the carafe side 2 or 3 times, when I had company, but it worked just fine.

I'd say if you are interested in it, check the store's return policy carefully before you buy, so you can return it if it doesn't work for you. Then read the instructions carefully and follow them. I think the complaints about weak coffee and grounds in the coffee on the single-serve side come from not using both the pod and the K-cup holder when using that side, if my experience is anything to go by.

Knock, knock! Anybody still here? Any Plain Jane coffee maker suggestions for a non-coffee-snob, non-foodie? DH drinks two cups of coffee at breakfast. I have one cup, cafe au lait. (Acid tummy.) Our 15-year-old Krups drip coffee maker with thermal carafe is acting up -- failing to use all the water in the reservoir, despite de-scaling with vinegar. It uses #4 Melitta cones. I use a separate small burr grinder. I warm the thermal carafe before making coffee. My main objectives are a decent brewing temperature, a thermal carafe, and a medium-low price point. Among the medium priced five drip coffee makers that Consumer Reports says reach high enough water temps, only the Capresso MT600 did not have bad user reviews on the carafe. (Complaints about drips; some people resorting to pouring *over the sink*.) Costco has a Capresso CM300 for $60. The MT600's MSP is $140. Would you encourage/discourage me from buying either one? (At least I could return the CM300 with no loss.) Would you encourage any of the 'pod' type coffee makers? (I would not be spending hundreds per year on pre-made pods, but using our own freshly ground beans.)

I'm on my second Tassimo and I think it's starting to act a little 'tired'. Seems like they last about 2 years on average around here and I don't use it every day. Tassimo used to be the only one that had real milk discs which is why I purchased that brand. I don't know if that is still true. The milk comes in a variety for cappacino, latte, low-fat, etc. It's nice not having to separately froth your milk for a latte, the machine does it for you. The discs are not as easily to find as the k-cups. Target stocks some, but the biggest variety and supply as Bed Bath & Beyond (over-priced though) or on line. I think the espresso for the cappacinos and lattes is very good. Kids love the hot chocolate and the chai latte. Its also great for heating water for tea (tea discs are available too). When this one dies (which seems to be soon)I will have to re-evaulate the k-cup though.

I may step on toes here but spending $300 bucks on a coffee maker with the justification that it makes the best coffee because it maintains the most consistent and proper temp is a real waste of money. But if you got it spend it. you just ain't gonna get the best cup of coffee but you may feel that you do. the best cup of coffee I ever tasted came from an old cowboy metal coffee pot...you know the blue enameled one with specs. Throw the grounds into the water with a couple of egg shells, bring to a boil and turn the temp down to a slight boil or simmer. Good stuff. The next best was my grandma's made with the traditional aluminum stove top percolator and Maxwell house coffee. For today's world, unless you are really into the ritual, get a simple Krups. Or if you like the process, try a Chemex, French press, or one of those Japanese slow pour contraptions. Buy a burr grinder. Get a metal filter if you need one for whatever maker you choose as they do not trap the oils like a paper one. I also have a Keurig for convenience but you need to try a lot of types of coffee to get one that you like. Keurigs make coffee weaker than if you bought the same coffee as whole beans and ground your own. To get it to where I like it, I have to get the Extra Bold K-cups.

We have a Hamilton Beach Brew Station.Makes up to 12 cups.The kind without the carafe.Just put your cup up to the spigot and fill.It is programable but we never use that feature.We like it.I also have a Gevalia' like it at home.I like the Gevalia' better.At home I use the beans and grind the coffee myself but we drink so much here(more people)and that can get expensive.We use Folgers or Maxwelhouse here.I like some of the flavored coffee beans but DH just likes plain old coffee so I don't buy flavors very often.DD sends me a rasberry/white chocolate one sometimes.I think she gets it at K-Mart.

I have one and I love it! It was cheapest at Walmart but Target price matched and I had a store card that saved another 5%. It is easy to use and looks great on the counter. I use the caraffe side daily and the k-cups frequently too. I do not use the single serve ground coffee but it doesn't seem complicated. I love having the option of the pot of coffee or k-cup, and I buy store brand k-cups and they work just fine. When I use the k-cup side, I just put my cup under it on the base, I don't raise the base as they suggest. It works great.
