Gina - My opinion is they make a good, not great, cup of coffee. The life expectency of these machines is not good at all so you want to buy it somewhere that will "cheerfully" exchange a dead unit. You can read more, including my latest experience, on the Appliances thread linked below.

My son has had the same senseo for about 5 years....mine is 4 years old...
I see that Mr Coffee has a single serve out that uses K cups...mixed reviews....but it has a smaller footprint.
The convenience will really spoil you for messing with grounds...
The coffee may not be great....but it's very good.....and Oh so easy!!

Keurig is probably the most popular brand these days and have really come down in price, especially with a 20% coupon at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Costco sells them if you're worried about having to return it eventually. I'm not sure about life expectancy.

I agree about the coffee being "good, not great," but there are so many K-cup varieties out now that it does seem to be getting better and better. I'm not a coffee snob, but am particular about taste. I'll drink K-cup coffee in my office if I really need an afternoon boost, but it's not my first choice. I you're not particular about coffee, it's incredibly convenient. I don't know if you're buying for your entire office to use or just you, but it's great for people with different preferences - extra strong, decaf, hot chocolate, tea, etc.

It's not for me, as coffee doesn't agree with me. But some people at work drink coffee. (I guess there are tea and hot chocolate k-cups too.) Thanks FOAS, I'll go to the link.

I was thinking that I would supply a certain amount of a k-cups each month and welcome people to bring their own favorites. I stopped providing a regular drip coffee maker at the office years ago because people (young programmers) didn't keep it clean. Now I just have a microwave, fridge and an electric kettle in the kitchenette.

Costco is a good idea. I love that store. I had to return last year's pre-lit Christmas tree because we put it together this weekend and half the tree wouldn't light. Changed fuses and messed with it, called for tech support but GE was useless. We told Costco that we used the tree last year but they said it was okay to return it since it wasn't supposed to be a single-use tree! Bless 'em.

Costco in Torrance had the Keurig for $149 today. I'm guessing BB&B with a 20% coupon will be a better price.

I love mine. I'm not a coffee snob by any means and it tastes just fine to me. Love the convenience. Love that I can have a hot cup of whatever I want within a minute. It's great for company.

My favorite is the Green Mountain Coffee Nantucket blend. It's just right for my tastes.

I've worked for companies who supply k-cups so one thing I'd caution about is that so many people have home machines that company k-cups are often taken for home use. At least where I used to work.

Oh, I should mention that Keirig machine cost money where I worked. You had to insert a quarter or two into it to get the machine to work. Cheap enough for people to afford but it paid for the k-cups.

Love Love Love my Keurig. The market is full of different varieties of K-cups. I am a coffee snob and will admit it.

My favorites are Dunkin Dounts which have just come out and are quite a bit more expensive, any expresso, dark roast.

The raspberry ice tea is also a winner. Had a Senso earlier, but like the Keurig because it has more choices of coffee.
Keurig starts off my day to a good start!

Love our Keurig....bought it for hubby for father's day and I use it more than him. Cafe Escape makes a chai tea k-cup that is really good. I bought the Platinum model and highly recommend it. Hope this helps.

I have been using the for years, after trying different brands.

I am from the old, old, school, we used Perculators.

Using one now, until I find another HB, with no frills,
just a simple Coffee Maker.

Had no problems , with them,for 30 years now.

I like the feature, push your cup against the lever, to fill and easy clean up.

gina, have you thought about contacting a coffee service? DH's office has a service that provides the Keurig coffee makers and the K-cups. DD's office is the same. We are on our second one at home. First one croaked after 4 years of service. Bought the new one at Wal-mart. I don't know the price. DH made the actual purchase. I think it was about $150.

It allows you to choose from 3 cup sizes, pricier model allows for 5 cup sizes. Pricier also has a timer. Since it takes less that one minute to make a cup of coffee, I can't figure out why I would need a timer.

Right now, the K-cups I have are decaf for DH, Starbucks Verona for me, Celestial Seasonings decaf green tea, and some brand of English Breakfast Tea. In the past, I have bought variety packs with flavored coffees, tea, and hot chocolate. I like having choices!

Good idea - I don't know if my small office warrants one, but I'll start by asking the water delivery if they have coffee service.

I'm on my second Tassimo and I think it's starting to act a little 'tired'. Seems like they last about 2 years on average around here and I don't use it every day.

Tassimo used to be the only one that had real milk discs which is why I purchased that brand. I don't know if that is still true. The milk comes in a variety for cappacino, latte, low-fat, etc. It's nice not having to separately froth your milk for a latte, the machine does it for you.

The discs are not as easily to find as the k-cups. Target stocks some, but the biggest variety and supply as Bed Bath & Beyond (over-priced though) or on line.

I think the espresso for the cappacinos and lattes is very good. Kids love the hot chocolate and the chai latte. Its also great for heating water for tea (tea discs are available too).

When this one dies (which seems to be soon)I will have to re-evaulate the k-cup though.

DH got a Keurig last year and he really likes it....says sometimes he just wants a plain cup of coffee. If you want stonger coffee, you can brew a smaller cup.

It wouldn't work well at work, but he found some k-caps on ebay and reuses the cups several times using his favorite beans. The machine came with a reusable filter, but it made carpy coffee.

SIL has one that she SWEARS by. Told me I should get one and get rid of drip coffee maker... so I can make one cup at a time, since it's just me. I'm NOT a coffee "snob", but IMO... stuff outta K-maker tastes a little instanty to me?? Understand they have some kinda filter that has to be replaced periodically.

And I'm frugal... some say cheap... could BUY a cup of good coffee at Wawa or Dunkin for not much more!?!

Sister is giving her husband one for Christmas. SHE doesn't drink coffee AT ALL... a die-hard tea person. Told her they make a gizmo that you can fill with your own coffee and reuse.

I too have had the Keurig for about 3 years and just love it. I only drink one cup of coffee per day so it is more cost effective for me than trying to drip one cup. I also use it to make tea both hot and iced and have used the hot chocolate k-cups. You may have to experiment to find the brand/type you like, and there are a bunch of varieties now.
I buy the k-cups where ever I find the biggest discount. Kohls also sells the k-cups and if you get their discounts and catch a sale, you can get a real deal. 30% off a sale price is a good deal. I buy sometimes at BB&B, and just recently Publix was selling some for 6.99 a box. Or Amazon may be having a sale.

I'm the only coffee drinker in the house. I use a Keurig. Love it. I buy my coffee (Donut House) at Costco. You get 80 k-cups for $36 I think it is, how cheap is that? $0.45 a cup And that's a great cup of coffee (to me).

My son uses it when it gets cool out to make hot chocolate and I keep an assortment of teas in case a guest wants tea.

I had a problem with my first one, I called Keurig and they asked me to send them the little k-cup holder inside... I did, and they sent me a brand new machine. So far-so good.

They don't tempt me at all though I have several friends who love theirs. They save money on their Starbucks habit. I've had the coffee and the cocoa. It's okay but like someone above said, it tastes a bit instant-y.

I drink one cup a day that I grind and hand drip into a cup. I buy good beans.

I have a Cuisinart K-cup maker. It as a 80 oz holding tank.
It makes 5 difference size cups, hot water, rinse cycle and you can put a go cup under it. It included the K-cup insert to use your own type of coffee. We love it! As stated above we buy the k-cups at Costco at $36.00 for 80. They carry several different ones.

I have a Nescafe Dolce Gusto (Walmart) I have to order on line to get the pods, but it makes skinny latte's which I think are terrific. It comes out hot with a nice milk froth!

Just FYI, vendors are working on trying to make these refills recyclable. They are rapidly becoming a major source of trash.

I can definitely see the convenience factor for an office, however. Nothing worse than burnt-on coffee rings from an electric drip coffeemaker.

We make Chemex drip with high quality beans. We don't drink a lot of coffee, but when we do, we figure what's the point of not drinking the best?

BJs had recyclable k cups but the coffee was awful. Good to hear more following suit.
