Has anyone ever used one of these coffee makers???
Comments (2)They're called a vacuum pot or coffee syphon -- I have the Hario Nouveau and they do make a great cup of coffee. That said, it seems to me that the main function is to be a little piece of coffee performance art. You definitely won't be making your morning cup in this thing. Mine has a little alcohol burner, rather than requiring stovetop use like in the video (have to preheat the water first, though). This makes it great for an after-dinner cup at the dining room table or coffee table at a dinner party. It's a fun little conversation piece and, in skilled hands, quite comparable to what you can do with a french press. Comments (4)I LOVE my Tassimo and enjoy a latte from it every morning. I am not a huge coffee connoisseur, so for me, it is worth every penny. My husband drinks coffee from it on week-ends, and doesn't mind it either. I say go for it, if you aren't looking to spend a lot of money and want the luxury of at-home-lattes, and other drinks! (I will add that I used to have an espresso machine, w/ milk steamer, and while I enjoyed drinks from that, I much prefer the Tassimo, for the simple fact that set-up and clean-up is MUCH faster!)...See MoreK-cup coffee makers anyone?
Comments (23)I'm on my second Tassimo and I think it's starting to act a little 'tired'. Seems like they last about 2 years on average around here and I don't use it every day. Tassimo used to be the only one that had real milk discs which is why I purchased that brand. I don't know if that is still true. The milk comes in a variety for cappacino, latte, low-fat, etc. It's nice not having to separately froth your milk for a latte, the machine does it for you. The discs are not as easily to find as the k-cups. Target stocks some, but the biggest variety and supply as Bed Bath & Beyond (over-priced though) or on line. I think the espresso for the cappacinos and lattes is very good. Kids love the hot chocolate and the chai latte. Its also great for heating water for tea (tea discs are available too). When this one dies (which seems to be soon)I will have to re-evaulate the k-cup though....See MoreAnyone have Cuisinart Coffee on Demand 12 Cup Coffee Maker?
Comments (5)We have had one for almost two years. It is OK, but the tradeoff for a glass carafe is a bulky square of plastic. It takes up a lot of room in the dishwasher. My husband insists on using the gold tone filter, which just means another thing to clean - I prefer the ease of throwing out a paper filter. We have noticed that the coffee is drinkable right as you pour a cup. That seems like a good thing, but it means that the holding temp is kind of low. Hence this Christmas present to the husband: Here is a link that might be useful: Coffee Cup Warmer...See More- 9 years ago
