Coffee Maker Help
Comments (13)I use a French press, which takes up almost no space and makes hot, fresh coffee in minutes. All you do is put the right amount (1 tablespoon pp) of coffee grounds into the glass carafe, pour in boiling water, wait three munites, insert the strainer, and voila! coffee. Clean up is very easy as well. French presses come in a variety of sizes, but you can make fewer cups in a bigger pot if that's what you have....See MoreAnother round of help me pick a coffee table
Comments (12)Thanks everyone! I guess it's back to the drawing board. Fwiw none of the side tables are necessarily staying, I wanted to start with the coffee table and then move on to finishing the rest of the room. It sounds like the consensus is a rectangle, and not as light as I'd been shooting for. @nosoccermom, the table we have has seen a decade of two boys. Much of the finish has been rubbed off the top. I don't mind it too much but it's one of the few things in the house my husband feels strongly about. I should just refinish it as @linelle suggests. But I have so many unfinished projects and so little time to do things like this (as opposed to seemingly unlimited time to procrastinate work by surfing the internet!) @olychick, you nailed part of my issue - any table that is equally useful when sitting on either sofa would take up too much space in the room. I'd thought about bunching tables or something like @jlc712 posted, but I wondered if I'd drive myself nuts trying to re-align them every 10 minutes after my kids drag them about the room. @Beverly, rattan + kids is a bad combination, unfortunately. I like some of the first tables you posted, but my husband nixed ones that look rustic-y. Maybe something like the first table @starnold posted? I really like the oval, and the color seems like it could work with the dark brown sofas. I'm sure part of my problem is that I'm just so used to the light table; I need to try out something darker to get over that hangup. Thanks everyone!...See MoreHelp with oven, steam oven, and coffee maker height!
Comments (19)I highly recommend doing a full scale mock-up for any appliance placement when openings are being considered. Especially stacked. I removed an old double wall oven but first made a cardboard mock-up taped to the front with exact measurements and openings to see how the doors would feel opened and shut. Where the knobs and handles and panels lined up. With the new steam oven and side door wall oven in the garage, (for months),i took my time and tweaked it until we got around to get an electrician in to run elec, etc. Could not be happier with the outcome. I can't imagine a steam oven so high up that you cannot see down into the pans. It is often a dance in timing with multiple pans in and out. Not always but it does depend on your cooking style. My left opening wall oven is on top at eye level to the glass door. We can both see clearly what is cooking. Steam oven is about a split difference with the counter height. No bending over at all and easy to slide trays in. Easy to clean. If under a counter is the only solution that would be fine also. I would so dislike it up high. We use both ovens equally. Depends on the season really. When we first bought this home i designed a coffee/breakfast station to be built into a wall by the breakfast table but after the first year here that was not really necessary. Cute functional idea but our kitchen ended up a better design than we initially thought. 1962 Dutch architect designed. One of the TV chefs did a gut renovation kitchen and mocked up his kitchen with plywood on sawhorses, blue tape on the floor, cardboard boxes stacked, sink shape cutouts that he moved around to get a feel for the 'flow' of cooking family meals......See MoreHelp me pick a coffee table for my Old Hollywood home theatre!
Comments (35)Hey everyone! I was looking for coffee table decor and just stumbled on this old post of mine. Thought I’d update you on what I’ve done with the space during quarantine. I still need to (somehow?) figure out how to make a cornice so I can complete the upper portion of the curtains. So please ignore what looks like a valance, it’s just fabric thrown up there to hide the curtain rod! I just ordered a round tufted leather ottoman with casters yesterday and can’t wait to see it in the space! If anyone has any ideas on the Ottoman, let me know. I definitely want a mirrored tray but not sure what to put on it yet....See Morejoc6820
