I am SO looking forward to Easter dinner

I love to cook, and have learned so much from this forum. Seeing the posts about ham glazes, etc. made me sit down and make a menu for Easter dinner.

1. Smithfield ham, glazed with orange juice and our honey

2. Asparagus from our garden with a light butter sauce

3. salad of mixed garden greens with a few herbs thrown in and a garnish of thinly sliced radishes (again, all from our garden)

3. Rosemary potatoes (rosemary from our herb garden)

4. Deviled eggs from our hens (they don't lay them that way, I have to hard-boil and do the rest!)

5. home made crescent rolls

6. A light orange souffle for dessert, compliments of Florida!

I love Easter, such a happy, renewing holiday, especially when the spring garden helps you along!

I was looking for this modified pic I posted last night. I was wondering where it went. LOL. I posted it here. I emailed the moderator to delete it because I posted it on a wrong thread. For the photoshop, I used the Rubber Stamp tool and pasted the image being copied on a separate layer. Then cleaned it up with Eraser tool, then finally cleaned it up with Magic wand with low Tolerance value. When it was finally clean, I just applied drop shadow with value of 10 for blur. I'm sorry retiredprof for posting it accidentally on your thread.

HU - Well....look at that, I forgot all about this old thread. 8 years ago? Wow! So, you are happy for Thanksgiving....what are you looking forward to? So, do you have family somewhere that you are not going to be able to get together with? We will not be able to get together with our family. First time in our lives that will be the case. Not one Thanksgiving or Christmas that we haven't been able to get together for a holiday dinner. So I'd say that is something to be VERY thankful for. And I'm a lot older than you are. [g]. And I hadn't thought about it that way until just this minute. So you did me a favor to bring this thread up. We are going to be making dinner, which we enjoy doing. We will have dinner ourselves but we will be delivering Thanksgiving Dinner to a couple of our kids. A small, easy, traditional dinner. I just got through making a food order. I looked at a weather forecast and it may rain on Thanksgiving, which would make it difficult to even have a short visit outdoors with anyone, but the forecast is wrong a lot, especially when it's an early one. Very funny - in retrospect of course. Your story reminds me of the year my turkey was cooking very well until I opened the oven door to baste, only to find that the oven died. DH rushed the turkey over to my inlaws to finish cooking. Sides were modified to cook on the stove top and grill. However, that year was a breeze compared to the Thanksgiving that we required a visit from our local fire department. I am still trying to block that particular memory. LOL Thank you for sharing your story. I always try to remember my mom's mantra: when God gives you lemons, make lemonade!

Shelley, you know you are ALWAYS invited, just knock on the door and come right on in. (grin) That goes for everyone here. The food was good, especially the salmon which Elery cooked on the grill. I could have lived without the store-bought cupcakes, LOL, but Mother brought them and who am I to turn down a gift, especially one made with sugar. (grin) We do usually have fun, we all manage to get along pretty well pretty much all of the time. That means everyone recognizes my authority as Empress of the Universe, LOL. Cathy, she's sure getting big, isn't she? I've been invited to her very first school concert in a couple of weeks. She's excited and tells me that she's going to sing "B-I-N-G-O". Y'all are most welcome. Don't bring anything--we have plenty of shovels to clean out the barn with, the shredder is all gassed up to mow the pasture, and there's plenty of mulching to do in the orchard area. Did I mention we expect guests to work up an appetite?
Truly, wish I could treat you all as a small return for all the laughs and learning you have provided.

marlingardener, as soon as you teach those hens to lay devilled eggs, let me know, will you? I'll start talking to my "girls" about it then. (grin)

I keep saying that we could make a lot of money if we just marketed farming right. People go to "weight loss boot camps" and hire personal trainers to get in shape. We could get all the hay in, the garden tilled and the barn shovelled AND get paid for it, all under the guise of a "boot camp". It'll work, I'll tell you.

You can't feed 'em that well, though, and expect it to work, LOL.
