What kind of fruit gelatin salad is this?

There is a green gelatin salad that I used to be able to purchase at Kroger, they no longer carry it. I couln't find it elsewhere and don't even know the name of it. Hope you can ID it.

I'm going to describe approximate what's in it. The gelatin is a light green color and it's not translucent. It has cottage cheese (I think), chopped walnuts or pecans, crushed pineapple and at times grated coconuts.

I hope someone recognize it and able to post a recipe.

You probably have the ingredients correct.

A box of lime jello, a cup of cottage cheese, maybe more, drained, and a small can of crushed pineapple, drained. I would save the juice from the pineapple and let that be part of the liguid to mix the jello and a half cup or more of chopped pecans. Mix the jello, stir in the cottage cheese, then the pineapple and last, the chopped pecans.

You'll probably have to experiment a little to get the proportions the way you want them.

The one I had also has mayonaise in it....mixed with the cottage cheese.
It's about the only kind of jello salad I can even consider eating

Molly, you'll do yourself a favor starting a brand new thread, instead of tacking onto someone else's message, and one that is very old to boot. That way, you will have the option to check off the notification box, so that way you're notified of responses to your message, instead of having to remember to check this old thread :-) Secondly, about a "fruit salad" citrus tree? Don't do it. They just don't work. Multi-grafted/budded stone fruits will work okay to fairly well, if you keep the stronger varieties pruned and in check, but it's a different story with citrus. There are scion to graft incompatibilities and other growth issues that make this option really more of a non-option. You're much better off buying the 2 to 4 varieties of citrus you really want as dwarf citrus on Flying Dragon rootstock, and planting them all in one big pot. This actually works much better, and you'll get exactly what you want in the long run - lots of variety in a small space, on strong trees :-) Four Winds uses mainly Flying Dragon rootstock which will keep your citrus trees quite small. I would suggest speaking with them about putting together a really good order that will work in one or two large pots, or in a small area in your yard if going in the ground. Four Winds is highly respected and very, very reputable citrus grower, as the members of this forum can attest. You'll be happier in the long run, trust me :-) Patty S. Seagrass, I used Granny Smith apples, kiwi, grapes and peaches. Lars--I actually found some good ruby red grapefruit up here and considered adding it, but I decided to keep it and eat it alone. Like you, Glenda, I want salt as well as black pepper on my cantaloupe. Fabulous Fruit Salad 1 medium honeydew, peeled, seeded and cubed 1 medium cantaloupe, peeled, seeded and cubed 2 cups cubed seedless Watermelon 2 medium peaches, peeled and sliced 2 medium nectarines, sliced 1 cup seedless red grapes 1 cup halved fresh strawberries 1 11-ounce can mandarin oranges, drained 2 medium kiwifruit, peeled, halved and sliced 2 medium firm bananas, sliced 1 large Granny Smith apple, cubed 1 12-ounce can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed 1 3.4 ounce package instant vanilla pudding mix In a large bowl, combine the first nine ingredients. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Just before serving, stir in bananas and apple. Combine lemonade concentrate and dry pudding mix; pour over fruit and toss to coat. I got this recipe many years ago from a long gone bulletin board. (Do you remember the old forerunners of the forums?) A quote from the submitter: Ã¢ÂÂI wanted to send you this recipe, it's a special one from our family. We have had this every holiday for as long as I can remember. My Mother got this recipe back in the early 50's from a chef at the Montecito Country Club and we have always had it. It's funny but my cousins all make it too and I was so surprised to find that out. My Mother has served this dish every Christmas and Thanksgiving for over 50 years. It's just as popular today with family and friends as it was years ago.Ã¢ÂÂ Ione's Country Club Salad 1 Small Package Lemon Jell-O 1 1/4 Cup Boiling Water 1 Can Fruit Cocktail (Reserve the Juice) 2 - 3 oz. Packages Cream Cheese 1/2 Pint Whipping Cream (Whipped) 2 Bananas 1 Cup Miniature Marshmallows Add water and cocktail fruit juice to lemon gelatin. Refrigerate until it becomes the consistency of egg whites. Beat in softened cream cheese to pea size. Add fruit cocktail, marshmallows and sliced bananas and fold in whipped cream. Use a 9x13 inch Pyrex dish or a mold. Refrigerate 2-3 hours until firm.

Try this one...

Mina's Divinity Salad
1 pkg lime jello
1 pkg lemon jello
3 c. boiling water
1 c. crushed pineapple with juice
1 pt. sm. curd cottage cheese
4 T. miracle whip
1 c. cool whip
1/2 c. finely chopped celery
2 c. mini marshmallows
1/2 c. pecans (opt)
Dissolve jello in boiling water. Let cool a little. Add pineapple, cottage cheese, celery and nuts. Refrigerate for a time.. Before it sets firmly, stir in defrosted cool whip which has been mixed with miracle whip. Fold in marshmallows. Use 9x9 inch pan or mold pan.

Jude's ingredient list is like mine.
Use the crushed pineapple that is in its own juice.
And definitely use the reserved juice as part of the liquid.

Let the jello 'set' until it is quite thick,
but still a bit runny.
Add the cottage cheese
(sour cream can be used instead)
And beat with a mixer until a bit 'foamy'.
Then add the rest of the ingredients.
Allow to finish 'setting'
It's really good!

Thanks all for the recipes. I didn't realized there are a few variations. I also found this recipe at the link below.

My friend and I went to Luby's Cafeteria for dinner tonight and they have this same fruit gelatin too. I was so happy to see it that I have forgotten to look for its name. Anyway, I think I'm going to make one this weekend if I'm up to it (health-wise).

Are you sure the ingredient is coconut? I have a lime jello recipe that has a lot of the same ingredients listed above but also contains finely shreded cabbage. I guessed cocunut the first time because of texture but there was no coconut taste. I haven't made it for years but I think I still have the recipe.

C'mon soonergrandmom, there's a big difference between coconut and cabbage. I came from a coconut country, I should know what coconut tastes like.

Coconut and pineapple pair together quite well. Maybe, that's why some people add grated coconuts in it. I know I would when I make it this weekend.
