What a cool video to document your east coast adventure! Beautiful music and photos to view. It still amazes me that you traveled that entire distance with so little mishap. It must have been a very rewarding experience. We always travel the back roads in SC - I noticed some familiar sights! Thanks for sharing it with us!

Amazing!!! I got chills watching that video. You are truly LIVING life! There are very few people who have that on their bucket list. You are such an inspiration. I did a triathlon last summer and my 12 mile bike ride was tough for me, can't imagine the distance you did. Maybe someday, when the kids are grown, right now I can barely find the time to do my 8 mile training loop (all right turns because I'm scared of traffic-hehe).

polly good for you ! I have never done a triathlon...not much of a swimmer. Are you planning another one this summer. As you get more time perhaps you can find a partner...someone from the race and you will get more comfortable riding further. Good Luck and thanks for looking. c

What a nice way to capture all those memories, he did a wonderful job. I so admire your chutzpah and physical conditioning to do these amazing trips. I want to be like you when I grow up. And since I'm not too far behind you, I'd better get myself in gear.

hhireno, what a sweet thing to say. Wish I lived closer and we would go cycling together :) Check into a local bike club. They are everywhere these days. They can help with training and a local cycling shop can point you to a good bike and folks to ride with also....good luck and yes Allen did a great job. c

Loved it! Makes me want to track down my old & fast 10-speed (Canary yellow!) that I rode constantly in college.

In fact, my first boss was this wonderful lady who was in a bike club, she and her dh would go on bike trips every weekend!

Oops -- Key West to Bar Harbor, I missed that. I laughed at the Herr's Potato Chip truck in the background of a PA shot -- yup, that sure is PA. I am in awe of this accomplishment.

dedtired...your " name" pretty much tells how I felt when I got home LOL. Funny how for 2 months I am never tired at all and then when I stop pedaling it catches up with me...did the same thing last year...I think it is a mental let-down in part as well as physical. I think I recognize the one bridge you crossed, where there is a bike lane separated by a fence. Is it near Valley Forge Park? Yes, PA is hilly. You should have stuck to NJ, which is flat as a pancake, at least in South Jersey and along the coast. Traffic is wicked, though.

I picked my screen name when I first registered after working late into the evening. I was pooped. Now I am pooped most of the time. I think a bike ride would do me good! It was encouraging to see that you are not a young kid -- gives me hope.

Yep right through the whole of the Valley Forge historic park. It was glorously beautiful. Had a great snack there at the old stone bldg. has a small store etc inside. Beautiful area. We did do NJ also...part of it anyway. Crossed and recrossed the river from PN to NJ and back.

I am 60 so not too young LOL. Seems that exercise always gives you more energy and you are tired in a good way...go for a ride . :) c

Sorry so late answering your question. I am so busy in summer with my 3 kids and rarely get on the internet. Right now I'm sitting in the yard while my kids swim in the baby pool. To answer, yes I am training for another tri, actually 2. I am the most undertrained for the bike part because I just can't get out there with my 3 kids in my care always. Last summer I would go 2X a week before DH left for work, but this year he is leaving the house at 5:45 am sharp and it's barely daylight out yet. I am in central NJ, there is a lot of support and cycling groups, but with 3 kids, and a full time job I can never make it to the times they ride. I'll just have to deal with ladies whizzing past me on my left for another year. I am not trying to win, just finishing is a huge accomplishment for me. The training keeps me in shape, and it helps me clear my head. BTW, I just learned how to swim last year with my face in the water.

Wow..Polly I am impressed. You have so much gumption ! You have the right spirit too...your kids are really lucky and so is your DH. When the time comes you can probably get the oldest on a bike and then put the other two in a trailer and pull them...you will sure get a great workout that way. Not sure how big they are but maybe you can get all 3 in a trailer ????? Look into it...the Burley is a great one and they usually have used ones for sale everywhere. That is just gorgeous. Such a difference between getting out and exercising that way vs. being stuck in a gym on a machine. What an opportunity! How nice that it has been captured this way!

As a matter of fact C- I did an 8 mile ride yesterday with my 2 year old in the back in a bike seat, while his sisters were at camp. I rode DH's bike though which is a mountain bike. I have a road bike, and it's fairly new, and I don't want to mess with it by putting the trailer on it. We do have a trailer. My husband loves off roading with it. My 2 youngest get a kick out of all the bumps. My oldest loves riding her bike, but yesterday she wouldn't go for it in the heat. I think it hit 95 degrees in NJ.

We are in Northern Illinois.
DH and I had been walking and playing Aerobie daily winter and summer until last year.
We were both able to start taking a day off just last month (It's been a long year!).
I am going to figure out a time that at least once a week we can get back out there. He misses it too.

Oh too bad we were up your way last June ! This year headed more West. Have never heard of Aerobie...will look that one up . I know what you mean about things getting in the way of fitness...I am glad you are going to get back at it and with your DH....we do so much together and we love it...best partner in my life. :) c
