did you do hardwood floors in all the bedrooms?
Comments (14)We originally were going to put hardwood in the bedrooms and ended up doing carpet. The first day we moved in, no wait BEFORE we moved in, DD got something pink (I still do not know what it was) on the carpet. I regret putting in carpet. We already have stains from the dog and even the cat. No matter how hard I try to keep the tile floors clean I don't care what anyone says, there is dirt on them. The dirt tracks into the bedrooms and the carpet looks like...you know what! LOL! DH wanted carpet because it thought it would make the room to cold in the winter if we went with wood. DD wanted carpet also and why I just didn't stick to my guns and do the wood is beyond me. I could have just gotten her a fluffy area rug and I am sure she would have loved it. If I were to do it over I would say wood for sure in the bedrooms. DH and DD won out on that one and to tell you the truth I think he secretly wishes we had done wood but he will never admit it :-)I give it one year and we will be ripping it out and putting in wood (at least that is my secret wish!)...See MoreHardwood foor Dented (not scratched) need help please
Comments (8)yeah, I'm going to call Mohawk and ask. We could have them replace the boards, because there are some other spots that were damaged during flooring installation and they have to do those spots anyway. vickyw-it was a lot of searching for those slabs. And a lot of luck. taggie, that's what I tell my dh. There will be other dings. At least it isn't a gouge. marcolo--not really sure. We installed the fridge. we dinged the floor. I'm sure we can point it out during punch list and get it fixed. We are not really supposed to do any "work" on the house ourselves even though we own the land and the house. (long story) The builder was supposed to install the fridge but I was getting a little impatient with it sitting in the middle of my family room and no one was showing up. I also have an 87# 42" vent hood sitting in my breakfast room that they are supposed to install. We will not go rogue on that one. They have now waited so long that the counters are in, the rangetop with its 24" high shelf is now installed. They are making it more and more difficult on themselves. It's sort of funny, the job supervisor will show up, see the fridge installed and just assume one of his guys came and did it. That's how it went down with the chandy over the island. We wanted it in before the stone was installed. The electrician couldn't it done in time. We asked the electrician if he minded if a friend of ours who is an electrician stepped in and did that for us. He didn't care. Then the super showed up on the day of rock installation, saw the light and said "oh good, they got it in".......See MoreCloudy haze on hardwood floor. Only have used Bona all along.
Comments (51)I never said anyone MUST have done anything. I'm saying "check" to see what you used....just in case. Here's my own quote: 'Check to see if the bottle says "Cleaner" or "Polish"'. Now...the question becomes why is Bona Cleaner doing this? Bona Cleaner is a chemical with precise properties. If it is over used it can have deleterious effects. Hazing is the most common presentation. Over use is not the ONLY way to get the haze but it is the MOST COMMON. I've seen people have great experience when they used the cleaner sparingly (1-4 times per year). I've seen people have decent results with the proscribed use (1 per month). But even then, it can have hazing results. Over use would be considered: 1. Too much cleaner used at the time of the application (too much chemical)....the application being 1 per month (which is the proscribed rate). 2. Too much cleaner can mean too many days of application per month. Anything over 2 days per month (24 applications a year) is considered 'over use'. 3. Too much cleaner can mean (and often does) a mixture of both #1 and #2. A little bit too much cleaner used too often. That 'snick' of over use can be part and parcel of ANY wood cleaner that produces a haze. Armstrong and Bruce cleaner also have this issue. So it isn't just Bona....it's just the one with the BIG name that people choose to complain about. What is interesting is, the haze does not develop if the floors are toweled dry....which is to say...the CHEMICAL is wiped off BEFORE it can dry onto the floor and create product build up. Can Bona Cleaner produce a haze on the first application with the right amount of chemical? Hell to the yah! For this to happen, there are many things that have to go very wrong...it it can happen. The most common reason it causes haze on the fist application: it was applied to the wrong TYPE of finish....See MoreWhat Are These Small Holes (Dents?) in Dark Hardwood Floors?
Comments (0)I've noticed these small holes (dents?) in my hardwood floors in some high traffic areas and some in places I don't even walk on. No furniture is around them. They seem to be popping up everywhere. Is this normal? Is it considered normal wear and tear? If not, is it easy to repair?...See Moreboxers
