I'm with the porcelain tile options...and G & S's option for stained epoxy concrete is a great one. The problem with vinyl in Hawaii is: vinyl HATES heat. Any heat. It hates sunlight (UV actually). It requires a stable interior environment (yep...even vinyl needs stable). In my experience as a sales person, the homes in Hawaii are often left open to the air outside (why wouldn't you?) to catch the ocean breeze. Humidity can be a major issue. And sunlight...they are Pacific Islands sitting around the same latitude as Mexico city. I think sunlight goes without saying. I would look to porcelain tiles or finished concrete as your solution. Vinyl can have too many problems in "hot climate" settings.

Sorry but Loba Impact Oil is an oil finish that is just like the other oil finishes. It isn't great when it comes to hiding oil splashes...drips...cooking splatter...mud...steam from dishwashers...etc. The 'two species' of wood is correct. You have two different species and the ORIGINAL installer did a MAGNIFICENT job of 'stain matching' the two different woods. Your flooring contractor did not do HER/HIS PROFESSIONAL due diligence. That is to say, s/he did NOT notify you when the two species were discovered. S/he did NOT attempt a 'stain match' to blend the two floors. S/he did NOT stop the work as soon as the problem became evident. Personally I would reach out to an NWFA Sanding/Refinisher for options. I believe this floor can be dealt with .... with extra funds and some extra time and some extra love. A 'guy' who says "Nope. Can't be done." means HE can't do it. HE IS THE ONE who does not have the skills. That's what that answer means. Someone better contact Loba to see if a polyurethane can adhere to a floor that had Impact oil SANDED OFF.

Don't throw away your cherry floors. Please. They were already not environmentally sustainable when installed; don't double the environmental negative impact by tearing them out again. You can refinsih to a more palatable color. I quite like the floors you clip above, but they are SO distinct to the last 5 years that it is virtually certain in 5 years they will be painfully "2022" - much more than your cherry floors.
