I have a Salter. I like it because you can zero-out a bowl or plate to still get an accurate reading of your ingredients.

Another Salter fan. I also have a non-electric SOEHNLE my daughter sent me from Germany many years ago, and it's still a favorite because it has a large bowl with it. Even with the bowl on the scale, you can still READ the scale and I use it all the time for scaling dough for loaves of bread.

If you have a Tuesday Morning store near you, they often have digital kitchen scales at great prices.

I love mine too! What ever you get be sure you can zero out the weight of the bowl or measuring cup.

Hey Terri we have an Oldwillknots too.

I would make sure the scale goes up as high as you want. Our oldwillknots only does a couple of pounds (DH uses it for coffee), so I have a another non-digital that will do way higher, I think like 15 lbs.

And once more, I'll share the hint that I got from Cook's Illustrated many years ago. Put your scale into a large zip-lock bag, zip it up, and leave it there. You can use it just fine when it's in the bag, everything works just fine thru the plastic. You only take it out to change the batteries.

I've got a weight watchers scale, (a slightly older one that doesn't calculate WW Points) and it serves my purpose.

My Old Will is actually a postal scale. I bought it for making candles..but find I use it for postage and in the kitchen too. It goes up to 35lbs and down to .10 oz and does grams as well. And zero's out.

I made some whole wheat walnut bread using grams and it came out perfectly. I love being able to weigh the finished dough so I can use the correct bread pan. (Thanks to Grainlady.)
