Eating gingerbread house, am I being paranoid?

I built an edible Christmas log cabin on Christmas' Eve, two weeks ago. My plan was to wait until it's hard enough then bring out the hammer for demolition.

Now, little man's 8th birthday is coming up in a week. Not only he wants to keep the project to show his friends, but also wants to eat it!

I built this whole thing with pretty much candy, chocolate, cookies, crackers (no gingerbread), and a bit of icing. I know little man probably won't die by eating part of it. My concern is... when his friends come over for the birthday party, they probably will want to have a bite as well. As paranoid as usual, I can almost see how their parents freak out if I let their kids eat the 3-week old Christmas project.

What is the best way to handle this situation? Would you let them have a bit of it?
