When I enter the numbers, even when I'm not logged in, it updates them and gives a result. It takes a second or two, and the "Updating" shows up in the top right corner. If still not working, you can just download it. Go to Export (upper right) and click the MS Excel (xls) choice. You may have to "allow" it, (the first time the popup blocker bar appeared for me, then subsequently it asked me where I want to save the file). Click "Save to disk" and the file is yours on your computer. I'm on IE7 but I tried it with Firefox, and it works fine and the download/export works as well.

Alright, I checked out "Application" first & found: a whole bunch of "Information", many "Warning" which had "Symantec AntiVirus" a few times, in large batches during a single day, "Ms Installer" a couple/few times, in batches of probably two, & "Userenv" everyday, in batches of two, right around the time I usually shut down the computer. Then I downloaded & installed, & I'm positive I ran, the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service. Then I tried shutting down & the computer still hung at "Saving Settings" & needed turned off manually! The other thing I got under "Application" was a few "Error" & each one was "Application Error". I checked out "Security" but there was only "Success audit". I checked out "Internet Explorer" and there was nothing. I checked out "System" and there was a whole bunch of "Information", several "Error" & each of those were "Service Control Manager", & several "Warning" & most of those were "tcpip", plus a few "W32Time". I haven't checked out any of the other "Warning" & "Error". I don't know what to do b/c I'm computer-illiterate. I think I'll just print all this out after submitting my reply & take such to Best Buy during the computer's annual checkup under our performance service plan/extended warranty, which is in May & let the Geek Squad deal with it.

I never use IE but tried a download just to see if I could see what you were talking about. When i clicked to download a file it gave me a choice of opening or saving the file. Clicking on save brought up a window showing the default download site but at the top where it identifies the folder that is open there is a little arrow to the right that opens up your entire file system so you can choose where you want to download the file. The next time you download a file it will go back to the last folder you downloaded to or you can again choose to change the download location.

yes all critical updates listed in the windows update list should be done, even for programs you do not use, if they are on the pc and have a hole in them which creates a vulnerbility it has to be patched or you are wide open to intrusion, makes no difference how often you use it. If you choose to not move up to IE8 and keep IE7 you still need to do any updates issued for that version of IE. this is why the secuina tool is so helpful to keep us updated on all the things we need to be updated on. Secunia Online Software Inspector be sure if it shows java or flash or adobe needs updating to do them they are huge risks for infections with out the latest updates. You should only have the latest versions on your pc, once you have the latest version you can go to add remove programs and remove the older versions to keep the pc safe.
