need help with pictures

I have backed up all my pictues to a Kingston flashdrive but when I go to look at them on the flashdrive they are in an icon form. I have to click on each one of them to view. It is a pain if I'm looking for a particular picture. What can I do different? At least I am able to save the photos but it would be nice to have them in readable format.

It always helps if you say what operating system you are using.

When you try to view the pictures, do you mean you have an icon for each picture, but that the icon is not a thumbnail photo? If so, when you are in that folder and looking at the set of pictures, you should have a task bar at the top which lists various options, and one of them is probably "Views." If you click on this, you can change the way the pictures are represented.

So, see if this works for you and report back. If it doesn't work, let us know what your operating system is.

Sorry about not mentioning my OS is Windows 7, which is probably my problem....haven't quite got it figured out. It doesn't have the obvious View selection as does the previous OS. I did find it though. Thanks, that solves my problem. I was afraid I was going to have to do some major thing to be able to view them.

Hi Grice, it's nice to see your around. I know you don't recognize this name but you know me as naturelover_MTL. I've changed my name to match my website... Anyhow, the previous instructions were right on but I'll also add my two cents worth... For photos to show directly on the page, write out your line like this: The above is an example to help you understand how it works, but it needs a tiny modification to make it happen. When you write it out, you must remove the space after the I only added them because I don't want to activate the code. If I remove the spaces, the browser will take it as an instruction to go ahead and display a photo.. So remove the spaces when you're ready to try it out. ----- For example, for your photo to be displayed directly on this page, the html line would have to be written like this: The http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd227/dandersongrice/10_29_20071_57PM_0001.jpg is the url (web address/location) of your photo. The rest of the wording tells the browser what to do/display on this page. When I remove the spaces after the , the code is activated and the photo should display below: Try it out!

So, without naming names, is your sister's candidate the one who was the current governor's campaign manager or the one who is the former governor's brother? I'm interested in hearing from both of them. But on another note, if you're interested in community activism related to gardening, I've been thinking a lot about something I read in the Des News last September. This is what I wrote in my blog about it: The Deseret Morning News published an editorial on Sept. 15 calling on Salt Lakers to participate in planting one million trees by 2017. The county and a number of cities have endorsed the effort. I hope there is some plan in place. They need something like the Sacramento Tree Foundation, which did great work when I lived out there. It had partnerships with the local electric utility to provide free trees to homeowners as a way of conserving energy. They would make the homeowners attend a class on tree planting and care, or they would send an arborist to a neighborhood to do a demonstration for a bunch of people. They would even mark the spots on your lawn where a tree would do the most good in terms of energy savings by shading windows. Maybe I should start such a foundation.

If you could help me through it, with baby steps. I am going to assume you are comfortable with opening and having more than one tab open. If you are not, just say so. I discovered a member at the Test Forum was having one heck of a time with the instructions, because she had never had more than one tab (or window) open at a time. Once she master tabs she was soon posting pics. 1...just type your message,...or in this case a reply to this post, changing the Subject of Posting line by one character. 2...open Photobucket in another tab 3...find the pic you want to post in the message, 4...click on HTML code found in the third box below the pic. It will say copied in yellow, 5...go back and paste the HTML in your message box, 6...hit preview, You will then see your message, and the actual pic, and 7... lastly hit submit. Hi again Sky. Funny about the Matisse. I have always said that if I could paint, I'd want it to be like Matisse! Since you liked the B&W idea and someone mentioned botanicals, I thought I'd share what I did in my bathroom. I used three prints by Steven N. Meyers. They are tinted shades of pale blue and green but are essentially like B&Ws. This isn't a great photo but... Some of his stuff I don't like at all. I chose Willow, Wind and Eucalyptus. I think the last would show well from afar and I find a square shape to be very pleasing. Some of his pieces (Hibiscus) almost suggest the ethereal quality of O'Keefe. One downside for me is that these prints have shown up in the mainstream lately. In fact, just after I bought them, I saw them in a Signals catalog. Ack! But, they are still just the right touch in my bathroom -- so perfect, I may leave them for whoever buys my house...if he/she wants them. Here is a link that might be useful: Meyers' work

Glad to hear it's resolved. And good for you for figuring it out, as the directions I gave were mainly for pre-Windows 7 operating systems, and Win 7 is definitely different in this regard.

With Windows 7 you have the Windows Explorer tab on the bottom taskbar. If you open it to view your photos you are offered small, medium, large and extra large icons. You might find the extra large very useful as you go through your photos.

When you open Windows Explorer look in the top right corner for the selector to change the view.
